“Brilliant holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2012

Recently got back from the lovely Crete, our holiday was fab. Alantha is in the most perfect location, close to a wide range of restaurants on the harbour front and about 3 minutes away from the beach on foot!! Every member of staff in the hotel was extremely helpful, Chrissie is a breath of fresh air and we enjoyed her breakfast in the mornings!! Only criticism I have is that our room wasn't as big as we expected, but we only paid for a studio room but what can you expect! However, the views from the balcony outside our room was amazing, Didn't want to come home and would not hesitate to stay here again

The Alantha is situated in the heart of a residential area (incidentally the locals always give you a smile!) and it is a lot nicer than I expected. I love Greece but it is well known to have basic accommodation - this is not the case with Alantha. Ok so you have to walk up a very steep hill to get there but it is ideally located in the heart of this great resort.

The room was spacious and immaculate, the chambermaid done an amazing job! There was plenty room on the balcony to enjoy a few refreshments.

The secret weapon is the pool. You go into the lift, press number 5 and when the door opens the lovely rooftop pool area is revealed. With the lovely Christine serving drinks and food all day long (the woman never has a day off!) and the lovely dog Chloe as company it is a perfect way to spend a chilled day. The pool area was always quiet which was nice. The views are tremendous!

I would love to return to Ag Nik and I would definitely stay in the Alantha. Helpful staff, great location and lovely apartments :)

We have just returned from a week at the Alantha Apartments. We had a one bedroomed apartment for 3 of us so one slept on a sofa bed in the lounge. The apartment was spacious and well equipped. The cleaners came in every day part from Sunday and it was spotless. Towels and bedding were replaced at least 3 times. The sofa bed was very comfortable. We took advantage of the air con and the safe. We were in room 3-07 and had a large balcony which was east facing so shady in late afternoons which was perfect for a drink after a day spent on the beach. 4/5 given only because view from balcony was a little bit overlooked and not directly onto the beautiful ocean.

The hidden secret of this hotel is the roof top terrace. The views are spectacular, the pool beautiful and the bar serves drinks and food all day (from 8am til 6pm). Chrissy who runs the bar is lovely and friendly and is a great cook! She has lots of tips for exploring the island too.

Overall the hotel/apartments are kept spotlessly clean with beautiful plants and trees. It is set back about a 5 minute walk to the centre of town so was very peaceful at night too.

Would thoroughly recommend you stay here.

Arrival not as expected as we were dropped at the bottom of some very steep steps and told the apartments were at the top. We found them after walking down road a bit. No one to check us in 3.30 in the afternoon. A letter and key on the reception directed us to our apartment. First impressions were good. The best greek accommodation we have had. We were greeted by Christine at the snack bar by the pool on the roof terrace. She is a lovely lady from wales who was full of local info for you. The week we were there was quiet so made for a relaxing holiday. We were b&b and christine cooked for us every morning when we were ready. We found it a shame as have others that the bar isn't open in the evening as the area on the very top of the building would be perfect for chilling out with a drink. Staff friendly. There are lifts in the buildings.
Not suitable for elderly or kids. A lot of steps or steep roads to get around the area.
No room for kids to play around the pool area. Perfect for grown ups. Would return.
Thank you christine.

Room Tip: We were in building 2. . Room 404. View of the sea and only room on that floor. It is a studio. And...

Great hotel, we didn't know what to expect with the mixed reviews but thoroughly enjoyed every aspect! It is a beautiful place and makes you feel very at home. The walk down to the beach is not bad at all, just would not recommend for elderly people. Overall Fantastic and will return.

We visited the alantha for a week at the beginning of may and were not disappointed
We had a one bedroom apartment and were surprised how spacious it was. The whole place was spotless and nothing too much trouble for the staff. We were b and breakfast which I would definitely recommend. Breakfast each morning was by the pool overlooking the most glorious view of the bay. (choice of full English or any possible variation or omelette, cereal, Greek yoghurt and honey all freshly prepared by Christine).

The pool area is small but lovely, quiet with lovely views and snack bar open for drinks or snacks until around 6pm. Christine is an absolute mine of info. want to know where to get the bus to plaka?(to visit spinalonga) speak to Chris, the best bar to see the football? See Chris. The best supermarket? see Chris. Absolutely invaluable.

The location is perfect, close to all the main attractions including the harbour and inland lagoon but within very easy walking of some much more reasonable places to eat. (turn right out of the entrance for the lagoon and some lovely bars and eateries, or left for some less touristy but extremely well priced eateries with just as delicious food.... Specially recommended would be Knossos, fab food, lovely service extremely good value.

Visit plaka, take the boat to spinalonga island then have lunch in one of the lovely tavernas overlooking the bay, a trip not to be forgotten. We found agios and the cretan people to be so welcoming, happy to chat and welcome you to the shops and bars with no pressure to buy, a really relaxing break in glorious sunshine. We will definitely return.

The only point I would make is that it would not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties, the hotel has a lift which would be absolutely fine, but the access to the hotel is via some very steep steps from the road, a good way to work off that lovely Greek wine!

Alantha Apartments was just what we needed. We were looking for a quick getaway with a place that offered great views and that is what we got.

minutes from the sea (2, if that) You'll find Alantha Aprtments. The staff are great, the rooms are standard and the rooftop pool is amazing! We were sat on our sunbeds with a G&T watching the Queen's jubliee on the TV ha!

Anyways..... Agios N. Is a lovely quiet resort that has many restaurants I would recommend. Make sure you visit Knossos Taverna (No. 1 on Trip advisor) The food is awesome and the owners are so friendly. You even get a free dessert! win win i say.

The other restaurant i recommend is Pelagos (Ranked No. 13 for some strange reason) If you like sitting outside with lovely views and eating the most amazing fresh fish then go here.

So that's it. Thanks for Alantha Apartments for making my week off perfect.
