We stayed at the hotel in June 2014 on honeymoon. Barring a rather prolonged & unsavoury episode, we would have described the honeymoon as idyllic & perfect. We would have rated the stay as a '5' but for the problems we had during our stay. I will cover all the relevant points as objectively as possible to provide a complete view of the experience.

Room – Our room (616) was sizeable with a living area, two bathrooms & a bedroom. The bedroom had a TV, although the range of channels was fairly poor. That said, we weren’t on holiday to watch TV, so this was a minor point. The room was air conditioned, had a fridge, a dressing table with mirror & a large amount of storage space. The bedroom led out onto a terrace area & private pool, which overlooked the beautiful swimming pool area & Aeolos restaurant. From looking at other rooms, I believe that we had one of the biggest private pools. Some were quite small & were adjacent to main paths, so bear this in mind that what you expect to have booked, may not be what you get. We were lucky to have such a lovely room & pool. Whilst the pools are considered private, they are only separated by a 3’ frosted glass divider. This will become relevant further into the review. The maid made the bed every day, towels were replaced as required & the floors were cleaned a number of times.

Food – We ate in the main restaurant everyday. The range of food on offer for each meal was excellent. As with any other hotel, the breakfast menu was fairly constant. There was a range of breads, cereals, fruit, cold meats, cheeses & cooked produce, such as bacon, sausage, egg etc. At lunch & evening meal, again there was a range of breads, salads & cooked produce. I don’t believe that one could expect to find a better range of foods in an all inclusive restaurant. At each meal, the staff were courteous & attentive. We were seated immediately, drinks brought & plates that we had finished with were cleared, almost as soon as we had set down our cutlery. This was a theme throughout our stay. Both the restaurant & bar staff’s efficiency and courtesy were a credit to the hotel.

Facilities – We did not make use of the spa & spent little time at the main swimming pools, although the pools as with the entire complex were very clean & tidy. There did not appear to be any difficulties getting a sun lounger & the pool areas were peaceful without children making a noise. The pool table was broken throughout our stay, which was unfortunate, as we had been looking forward to playing in the evenings. A check of the local area failed to find an alternative bar with a pool table. As has been pointed out in previous reviews, this is probably not a hotel for the elderly or disabled. The hotel is on many levels & although there are lifts present, less abled persons may find it difficult moving about the area. The on site shop was very useful for basic provisions.

Local Area - Close to the entrance to the hotel is a pebble beach from which you can swim in the sea. We opted for a bit more privacy and swam from rocks below the coastal path running in front of the hotel. There is a shop a short distance from the entrance. The main town is approximately 10 mins walk along a rather dusty road in a run down looking area. We hired a scooter, which we found invaluable in moving about the area.

The Incident – Unfortunately our stay was soured considerably by the actions of the occupants in the adjacent room, number 617. They moved in after we had arrived & our problems started around 5 days into our stay. Whilst the terrace & pools are private, one can easily see the neighbours over the 3' high frosted glass dividers & the water runs between four pools.

Whilst sitting on our terrace, the couple in 617 decided to copulate, naked in the adjoining pool & terrace in clear view of ourselves. This activity was also visible to those walking past the room on an adjoining roadway & from the pool area in front, where children were playing. We thought that this may have been due to their initial excitement at arriving & possibly not being aware of the surroundings. We are not prudish but do have standards & expect that others should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, particularly in public view. After this activity occurred again, we complained to hotel staff, who told us that they would speak with the occupants. We received assurances that this would not happen again and if it did the couple would be removed. Unfortunately, the couple could not contain their lust & were again seen copulating in plain view. I again complained & was told that staff would speak more sternly with the couple. We also asked for the pool to be cleaned, as the thought of swimming amongst someone else's ejaculate is quite frankly sickening. This experience made us feel uneasy about going out onto our terrace, as we could not be certain of what sight may greet us. The couple on the other side (I believe it was room 615), were also horrified by what they saw but declined to complain as they were leaving.

The following day, after we were witness to the same acts, I spoke to staff & made it clear that this was not acceptable, requesting that the couple should be removed immediately, as we had been told. Instead of taking robust action with the couple, the staff offered us another room of the same type to afford us some privacy, away from the flagrant exhibitionism next door. This was despite the fact that we had conducted ourselves impeccably & the neighbouring couple appeared to lack any moral standards.

We agreed to look at the room & whilst the room and pool appeared smaller and more shaded, we reluctantly agreed so as not to ruin our honeymoon further. We packed our cases & started to walk towards the new room (624). To get there, we had to walk beside the neighbour's pool. As we walked past the pool, the male of the couple, called out to us "bye bye" in a rather sarcastic tone. I challenged him on his comment & as a point of principle, my wife I returned to the original room, refusing to be mocked for having standards.

We went to the reception & asked to speak to the manager. The manager was sympathetic & stated that he would speak to the couple again and that if they declined to move rooms, they would be moved to another hotel. He informed us that he would phone by 7pm with the outcome. This did not happen. When we went to reception, we were told by a member of staff that the couple had been spoken to & if it happened again, they would be removed. By this point, I was severely frustrated by the inaction of the staff when dealing with the couple. My wife asked that the manager call at our room to have the matter resolved & had taken up days of our honeymoon where we were unable to use our pool or enjoy the terrace for fear of what we might see. After a period of time, my wife phoned reception asking when the manager would be calling, as it was ruining our holiday. The member of staff informed my wife that the manager was not there and to progress the matter, we would have to speak to our agent. I emailed Inspired Luxury Escapes, who we had booked through & dealt with Erin, who could not have been more helpful. The couple were finally moved, as a result of our complaint to the agent. Had we been aware that this was the way to resolve a problem, we would have taken this step earlier, rather than lose three days of our holiday. We spent a considerable amount of time away from the hotel & our room during this time, rather than put ourselves through further distress.

Overall, we enjoyed the hotel & the facilities but felt that the management were very slow in dealing with our problem. Had we not gone to the agent, I do not believe that it would have been dealt with satisfactorily at all. This should have been a very easy matter to deal with & gives little confidence that a bigger problem could have been dealt with by the management.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at Miramare Hotel on a half board basis. The room we had was ideal - just the right size, absolutely stunning sea views over the bay and a very private balcony. The bathroom was a tad outdated but served its purpose (the door didn't close properly which was a bit annoying but not an issue). No tea and coffee facilities, the built-in hair dryer was a bit of a waste of space (my hair dried quicker sat in front of the air con) but all in all a good room (room 703 - by far the views were the best feature of the room!) the beds were particularly hard and uncomfortable but not back-breaking.

The food - breakfast was the same every day more or less, but as others have said a great range of options - some days fresh omelettes to order, American style pancakes and crepes to order, other than that the full works. Very fresh and offered a good variation. Orange juice from the post-mix should come with a warning (warning: May not contain actual orange juice) but overall very good.

We were on half board but we asked at reception and we were allowed to switch our evening meal to lunch instead on any day we wished - we needed a voucher from reception that had to be handed in to the lunchtime wait staff. Very easy to do and gave us the flexibility to eat in the amazing restaurants Ag Nik has to offer (embassy, pelagos, avli, chrisofyllis). Lunch and dinner were rather similar but we were impressed with the variation in meals - it probably helped that we ate out most evenings but to us the lunch options were never repeated in 10 days. Very impressive food for a mainly all-inclusive restaurant.

Location: 10 min walk to Ag Nik, 15 if you amble. Not the most pleasant of walks - a dusty back road most of the way with no pretty sights, no cafés or restaurants and a smattering of small sad shops. Lots of empty buildings / shops - we walked back the first night from Ag Nik but it was scarily quiet and dark for two girls so we taxied back from then on for €5.
There's a lovely small shingle bay right outside the hotel - crystal clear blue water and very still. Lovely for an afternoon dip - it's not a beach, the shingle is a very very small narrow strip, but still nice for a swim. The other beach further down, Ammos, was packed and a bit dirty - we were happy sticking with the clean and quiet hotel pools. The view from the large pool was again absolutely stunning - the kind of view you can never tire of.

Service was impeccable - concierge was very knowledgeable and friendly, all restaurant staff were efficient and polite and the bellboys were very helpful with our cases. Absolutely brilliant customer service from start to finish - always with a smile and a joke. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others - the rooms need some tweaking for extra comfort but overall a great experience in an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Definitely request a sea view - if you are fit and healthy ask for a high room to avoid being near t...

We booked through Secret Escapes and didn't know exactly what our accommodation would be, but we struck lucky with apartment 631, which has a bedroom (with A/C), living room (with independent A/C), bathroom and walk-around pool. (The adjoining apartment was much narrower than 631 and its pool was not walk-around, oddly.) 631 has a good sea view across the bay. The pool water was totally clean and, though unheated and feeling cold on first entry, was perfect for dips in late June, when the temperature in early afternoon can be well over 30. We were not bothered by insects, though small ants were always on the pool-side patio. The cleaners who come in daily were very efficient.

Walking around the complex we noticed a great variety of apartment/room locations and views. Some have no pools. Some pools are right next to pathways, affording absolutely no privacy. We realised how very lucky we had been to get 631, but if we stayed again I would make advance checks about our accommodation.

The star feature of the Resort (for us) was the Bellavista restaurant (above the foyer), where an amazing array of hot and cold buffet dishes was available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were plenty of options for carnivores or vegetarians, or you could enjoy a totally Mediterranean diet. At breakfast I loved the Greek yoghurt with figs and honey, and my wife liked the pancakes cooked to order. For those who prefer a more "British" breakfast, bacon and eggs were always available in plenty. At lunch and dinner there were huge slabs of feta cheese, green and black olives and salads and oils, and cooked fish and local vegetables of several varieties. The local wine (white or red), and the Greek beer, was perfectly drinkable. The maitre d' and his restaurant staff were very efficient, helpful and pleasant.

We enjoyed an outdoor pool-side "Greek night", with excellent Greek buffet food and entertainment by local musicians and dancers, but the food at the "Tango night" was served slowly and the evening was less of a success.

The local town and its lake and harbour was worth a visit, but we thought the food in the Resort restaurant was all we needed to eat.

Room Tip: Room types vary widely. Make enquiries before booking, if possible.

We got back yesterday from a lovely all inclusive holiday here, which we booked through secret escapes for a double room with a sea view and private pool. There were some small negatives that you should be aware of, internet was very slow and only accessible outside of our room, plus expensive if you require more than the free 1GB they give you. The bacon at breakfast was a bit different, and although it is personal taste, we felt it was poor quality. Our bed was two singles pushed together, and they moved very easily which was incredibly annoying and uncomfortable. The cardio section of the gym was terrible, the cross trainer was completely broken and the bike was so old the seat was broken.
HOWEVER our room was amazingly large, and our private pool was the perfect size for us, just what you need to cool off. The three big main pools looked pretty empty and peaceful for the majority of our stay and very clean with amazing views. Other than the breakfast bacon the rest of the food was better than we expected, there was always a good variety of fish and meat available and there was always different things on the buffet. The feta cheese is the best thing I ever tasted! And the baklava type pudding was beautiful.
The beaches were very nice, very clean with crystal clear water, we rented a pedalo from the sandy beach which was great and only €10. And Agios Nikoloas is only a short walk away, with lots to offer. Its a 9.5/10 for us, we would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room!

The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable with good amenities. We stopped on an all inclusive basis in early June. Swimming pools were excellent and we had our own private pool too - which was great.
The food is plentiful and of good quality and at first glance there is plenty of choice. However, what you see on day one is pretty much what you see for the next week with only a few changes to the menu. The snack menu was similarly limited with few choices, although there was plenty of ice cream for the kids.
The dress code for dinner (smart casual with no shorts or swimwear) was not enforced which spoiled and cheapened the experience for those who wanted to look a little smarter than those who looked like they'd just wandered in from the beach.
These are only minor quibbles but the following was more significant.
We tried to arrange to pay for an extension to the check out time (12:00) or get another room as our flight was not until late at night and it would have been nice to have a shower and a rest before travel. However, we were told they were very busy and it couldn't be arranged. This was very disappointing as I estimated the hotel to be around one third full! If they can't be bothered when they are slack what's it like when they're full?
Make no mistake this is a good hotel and I would recommend it - particularly if they addressed the shortcomings I highlighted.

As far as we were concerned this hotel offered really good value for money.
We stayed at the hotel on a half board basis for five nights at the beginning of the summer season. The hotel was not full so it is difficult to judge what matters would have been like if it had been fully booked. The buffet meal arrangements were very good with a wide choice of food to suit most tastes. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good range of hot and cold food choices as well as having a variety of eggs, plenty of fruit, bread, toast, and pastries. The coffee was particularly good. The service was always helpful, cheerful and friendly and dirty plates were cleared away quickly but you did not feel rushed to finish your meal.
The hotel is built into the side of a cliff and so has many different levels. It has a number of efficient lifts to provide good disabled access but some rooms can only be reached via a number of short staircases. There are some step changes in marble floor levels in the hotel which could and should have been more clearly marked.
Reception and bar staff were helpful, friendly and efficient with a good grasp of English. Our room and all public areas were always kept clean and tidy.
The hotel had a well stocked mini market but it was only open for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening.
The hotel had two outdoor and one indoor swimming pools as well as a small gym but they were only being lightly used at this time of year.
Our room was reasonably spacious with adequate storage space and a nicely furnished balcony. It had an excellent sea view and was quiet. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient. However in the evening the hot water was rather lukewarm and slow running. For a 4 Star Hotel the TV was very old fashioned with BBC World Service in black and white as the only English Channel. The room also lacked any coffee or tea making facilities.
The hotel was a 10 minute stroll from the marina and a 15 minute walk from the town square.
Local to the hotel were a small taverna, a small bar and small beach about 200 metres from the hotel entry road.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a great sea view but are directly below an outside seating area which could be noisy...
