We stayed here for 11 nights.
We are a family of 3.
I would not recommend this place for couples. It is absolutely a FAMILY hotel.
It is a few minutes away by car to the town and a few tavernas can be reached via the back exit, within a 10 minute walk.
Hotel reception is clean, bright, welcoming and air conditioned. Check-in was speedy and effective and a man dove in front of us to take us down to our room. The complex is like a village so it would have been a little tricky to locate otherwise - we had a hire car.
We stayed in a family apartment which was small but served its purpose - kind of. The rooms were air conditioned and spotlessly clean. We had a small patio where we could sit out and enjoy the garden. However, the apartment was so DARK that even with all the curtains open we had to have the lights on, which was a real shame. We opted for self catering but really this would not have been possible - there is a fridge, some utensils/pots and pans and 2 hobs. No oven or microwave. This didn't affect us as we knew we would always dine out but may be worth noting for others. Despite there being a coffee machine advertised, there was none so we had to ask at reception and one was put in our room....We stayed here for 11 nights.

Beds were rock hard, I had chronic back pain for the whole week - just 4 pillows for 3 people and these were very flat and hard. Not the best.
Something we were not expecting was daily cleaning - not a service normally offered with self-catering and we found this very intrusive - the cleaners were knocking at random times - some days we wanted a slow start and we felt we were inconveniencing the cleaners. A simple solution would be to provide a "no service" or " do not disturb" sign for guests.
In addition, we did not require such regular sheet changes - we are not dirty people!
The pools are lovely and plenty of sunbeds.
The grounds are beautifully maintained.
We ate at the Taverna, the main restaurant , the pool bar and the little mezze place next to reception.
Taverna - lovely place with a small selection of pizza, pasta and some local dishes. They have special nights e.g. fish night and lobster night. Whilst we didn't do these, the looked great.
Main restaurant - lovely buffet wi a huge selection of food to choose from, great selection for kids too. Never the same twice. 22 Euros per adult, 11 Euros per child, plus drinks.
Mezze restauant - a hidden gem! We enjoyed very personal service, a sharing platter plus fruit for 12.50 Euros and the best views. Intimate and romantic up there - dump the kids and enjoy it!
Pool bar - very limited selection - hot dogs, toast or toasties all served with crisps. It's "ok" but the service here is so painfully slow. Some days we would wait half an hour for our drinks and food and they may all arrive at separate times. Cocktails are never the same twice, it depends on who makes them. The staff are lovely but there needs to be a better system, more staff and some training here. Pool bar is open until midnight and is a lovely place for an evening drink.
Kids club is fantastic though our daughter struggled as there were very few English speaking kids - she was a little lonely at times. The staff here are amazing and so inclusive - just lovely and a true asset to the hotel.
We enjoyed some water sports down at the beach - the staff here are also wonderful and we felt very safe in their hands.
I was very disappointed with the hotel (and Crete in general) with the complete lack of recycling. There are just general waste bins and towels can be exchanged at the pool constantly, beds changed (we think) daily - it just felt so un-environmentally friendly. I am sure huge improvements could be done here.
We had to use the doctor who is based in the town nearby. He was amazing and the service we had from him was simply amazing.
Evening entertainment. Gosh! The terrible, terrible magician was loved by the kids. The Cretan dancers were brilliant and everything else was appalling!! Especially "rock night" which is a man on a guitar and a man on an electric organ playing 70s sounding synthesised music. Definitely an evening to go out. The complex goes to sleep at about 10.30 so if you are a night owl, this is not the place for you!More
