“Nice but depends what you order”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2014

Had 2 lovely meals here with husband and 2kids.The setting is beautiful, King prawns were fab, service good although a little slow. My husbands 2 meals were so-so just a bad choice whereas mine and our kids were fantastic. So one of those places where not everything is fantastic but all in all you will have a nice time.

“Wonderful atmosphere, nice staff, fresh fish!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014

We had a lovely long family dinner here in the garden, very relaxed with an acoustic guitar player (we are not keen on loud live music at dinner) and really kind and patient staff who spoke perfect English. We chose our fresh fish from the ice-case and it was prepared simply and cooked perfectly. Our children were very happy with langostines they grilled with spaghetti (not on the menu, but they were happy to accomodate). Hardly noticed the cats, and my husband is very allergic so we're sensitive to their presence. We had a bit of a hard time finding it as it is one street off the main drag, but we welcomed being in a quieter spot. Highly recommend!

“Lovely ambiance, good food and excellent service. A top place in Agios Nikolaos.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

This is well reviewed in TripAdvisor and deservedly so. The restaurant has an open area under a canopy of trees which gives it a lovely ambiance in the early summer evening. The waiters are attentive and polite and add to the welcome to the restaurant. My wife had the nicest grilled octopus In Agios Nikolaos (and she had the same dish in several places) and the other dishes too are well above the average fare in town. It is slightly pricier but you get what you pay for and I am not at all averse to that. It is when you do not get what you pay for is when it grates. All in all, a thoroughly recommended restaurant to visit.

“Value for money and very pleasant garden”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014

In last 16 days I have traveled through entire Crete with my girlfriend and only two restaurants have left very positive stamp for us. One was at the east coast, Agios Nikolaos (Pelagos) and the other one was in Xania (Chania). I have decided to write a review for the Pelagos in Agios Nikolaos because they have focused on purely Cretan kitchen. First of all, the restaurant is not in the centre (at the harbor) of Agios Nikolaos where all kinds of food-inns exist for tourists. They are very confident in what they are doing and hence the position is most probably not the most important thing for them. The Pelagos offers very nice Greek-Cretan dishes (not over or under cooked, which is very common in all the touristic places all around Crete) and they offer nicely designed and refreshing garden! Very friendly, helpful and talkative staff. As I understood the same owner is also running a restaurant at Plaka – opposite of Spinalonga island with the name Thalassa. Actually, we wanted at first to stop and eat somewhere there (in one of the 3 restaurants in Plaka with very nice view to Spinalonga island) but it was very windy and therefore we have decided to travel to Agios Nikolaos. If you are willing to eat at Pelagos you must try feta cheese in the oven and eggplant salad as well as squids with wild fennel and the black ink.
