We came here last year, and after many teething troubles we really enjoyed it with just the 3 of us.We had come back here this year for a family holiday of 6 adults.

Firstly we found Georgia the maitre d of the a la cart restaurants to be extremely rude & obnoxious. One evening she tried to cause trouble in a restaurant by picking an argument with us, over why there was so much available seating and not being able to accommodate a table for 6. Making it very embarrassing and uncomfortable for us all, others watching as she began to raise her voice. Even the waiter was distressed and was trying to defuse the situation. Finally she made us sit outside but all together. We didn't need this to start off our holiday.

Also the cleaners had a very small amount of time to clean our rooms. Baths, sinks and showers were not cleaned daily, even down to our bed linen not being changed. Towel's in our rooms had to be requested but took hours to arrive. Noise from other rooms below us was just terrible and to get up at 07:00 - 07:30 just to book for an al a cart restaurant for 5 days in advance made my family and I very restless and tired throughout the week!
We did tell the manager about the all the issues, he wasn't overly concerned.

Wont be returning next year!

Room Tip: there is no quieter side.noise from moving beds & furniture what ever floor your staying on, sta...

Went on recommendation of daughter and son in law who went last year and it was all they said and more. We were 2 couples and on check in were shown larger rooms and a suite if we wished to change from our separate rooms. Kept our Camelia rooms and they were perfect with a pool seconds away. Rooms were on the ground floor and beautiful, bathroom with a bath and two showers!! Buffet restaurant always had an amazing range of food but the themed restaurants were our favourites, easy to book but if you didn't have a reservation you could wander by and almost always get a table. Our overall favourite was the Cretan Tavern, the food was amazing and a special mention and thank you must go to Patroklos and Panagiotis who looked after us so well each time we went. Champagne bar was another favourite for the vodka champagne and of course the lovely views.Waiter service in the bars was excellent especially the night bar where they would send you back to your table if you tried to approach the bar !!

Room Tip: Camellia rooms are just far enough away from main restaurants and pool but have their own quieter po...

This was our third trip to Crete, and our third stay at the Mitsis laguna resort. We were not disappointed!! We have been well looked after each time we have stayed here and will definitely come again! My only issue this time was that we had a room which was close to the childrens pool and kids club which unfortunately was a little tired and the plumbing was a bit smelly at times due to the septic tank by the football pitch. the food as always was great and the service from staff was faultless. Giorgia who runs the restaurants as the maitre is super helpful and always remembers us each time we visit.

Room Tip: Rooms near to the kids club have a drainage smell due to the septic tank.

I stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend in June and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was tremendous and the food was terrific especially in the Italian and Mexican restaurants. The room was very well presented and immaculately clean as were most areas in the hotel. The champagne bar was the pick tho with lovely views at night time. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone and I would love to go back. The only down side is that theres nothing close by so if you like it a bit livelier at nights then you have to get taxis.

We have just returned from a week at this resort over the October half term holiday. There are so many positives to the service and facilities here, the whole package made for the perfect relaxing holiday - all inclusive obviously makes for a much easier time and certainly suited us as a family.
Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be returning.

We have just returned from our 16 day stay at the Mitsis Laguna resort and it was amazing!

We normally go to a Lopesan hotel in Gran Canaria and are used to their high standards, so I was quite nervous to go somewhere else. But it was really good, for an all inclusive hotel in Greece, they are among the best.

Let me start by telling you the positive things.
The rooms are gorgeous, very nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed (2 single beds pushed together with separate sheets but 1 comforter), sofa, good shower and lots of wardrobes. (Especially hanging, not so much shelves) also very nice products in the bathroom, shampoo, shower gel, soap,...
The pools are really nice but freezing cold. But once you are in, you don't notice the cold and they are lovely refreshing ;-)
The food is very good, both in buffet restaurant as in the themed restaurants. A lot of choice in vegetables and every dish is Greek inspired (in buffet restaurant).
The drinks are of a very good quality, with the real brand stuff in the night bar. Real Martini, Campari, Beefeater, Gordons, Ballentine,... The wine is also very good.
The staff is amazing. They make your holiday perfect. Georgia, the maitre from the themed restaurants, is so nice. She moves heaven and earth for you. Georgios (and his colleague) maitre from the buffet restaurant is also very nice, always smiling and so friendly! After a few days they knew we would only eat outside (because we get ill from air-conditioning) and as soon as they saw us in the queue, they went to find an outside seat. If there wasn't one available they told us to go wait in the bar and they would phone the Bar to let us know we could come. Top service! And then Manolis and Christina from the (Night) bar, they were amazing! You have to get used to Manolis because he can come over as quite rude with his jokes, but once you know him, he is such good fun, and he is very good in what he does! Christina is sooooooooooo sweet, she always smiles and is always open for a chat. I will miss them both! Other staff worth mentioning is Ioanna and Kostas from the bars, Paola from the buffet restaurant, and Manolis from the Italian restaurant and 1 waiter from the Cretan restaurant who speaks so many languages I was amazed (Dutch, French, Russian, Greek, English,...)
Minibar is filled every day, even if you still have a bottle of water standing somewhere in the room, you will get 2 new ones.
Housekeeping is also very good, rooms get cleaned 1, sometimes 2 times a day.

And then the negatives. Euhm the biggest negative thing were the Russians, 70% of guests in Mitsis Laguna are Russian and 60% of those behave themselves very good. The others are a different story. They can be very rude to the staff and other guests. But if you don´t pay attention to them, you won´t even notice that...

The water (with and without gas) is from the tap and is really nasty, all other drinks are with sugar so if you are on a non-sugar lifestyle, you have a problem...
We had a room in the main building, sea view. We had a very small balcony (nearly couldn't go there with 2 persons) and a small bathroom, if you had a shower, the whole bathroom was wet. The rooms were very noisy too. I woke up every morning at 7AM because the cleaning ladies started collecting their things and slammed the doors, you can hear your downstairs neighbours through the plumbing in the bathroom.
When it rains, everything closes outside so you have to get your drink inside and there is only 1 bar open during the day.
Wifi is very weak and only in lobby or hallways of main building.
At check in you don't get much information, we didn't know where our room was, we didn't know where to get a beach towel,...
There are 3 cats in the resort, they wander around the restaurant during breakfast, lunch and dinnertime. 1 of them is very cheeky and jumps onto the chairs, the other 2 are polite and sit next to you to see if you have anything for them. They do come in your room, I met some girls there who were on ground floor and 1 of the cats visited them every day and took naps on their bed. They didn't mind, but I am happy I was on the top floor.

Some advice for guests: Go to reception after or before breakfast to make a reservation for the themed restaurants, we had no problem at all to get reservations and the hotel was fully booked. If you didn't make a reservation, go to see Georgia in the evening, 90% of the time she had a cancellation and can fit you in. Lunchtime is the same story.
There is no need to wake up early to put your towels, go around breakfast and you will find a place.
Try to book a bungalow room, they are much quieter then main building. Do ask for a top floor room, because on the ground floor you can have a cat visiting your bed... and you have the nicest views. If you do like a ground floor room but don't want the cats to come in, close the shutters in front of your window/doors.
If you go in October, be prepared for all weather conditions, we had 4 days with rain, wind and 15 °C, and the other 12 were very sunny and around 30°C, but evenings are cold.

Some advice for the management: try to lower the amount of Russian guests!
Put signs at the entrance of the buffet and themed restaurant that guests should wait to be brought to their table.
Change the dress code back to long trousers, smart casual is different for everyone, some people think a soccer outfit or hawaï swimmingshort are smart casual, I don´t...
Try to heat the pool water, even if it is just a little bit...
Serve bottled water and no tap water.
In buffet restaurant there could be more variation in the meat, we felt it was the same every day and always pork...

In conclusion I would give this hotel a 7.5/10, if there weren't so many Russians, I would give it a 8,5/10, and I will probably be back with my friends because it is a perfect location for a girls week out!!

Room Tip: Ask for a bungalow room, top floor. You will have the nicest views, less noise and no cats...

We have just returned home from a weeks stay 18-25th Oct at Mitsis Laguna on an all inclusive basis, three adults aged 40-46 no children. I have to say this for me being the first all inclusive holiday ive done was amazing. My room was identical to that of my relatives with 2 single beds making a very large double, the room was like a palace with built in wardrobes, free safety deposit box that was easy to use with your own pin code, a walk in shower and bath with lots of glass, marble and spotlights and spotlessly clean. provided in the bathroom room are bath and hand towels, bathrobes, hairdryer, tissues, shampoo, shower gel and shower cap. Our rooms had French doors straight out onto the poolside making it great to trot in and out to the mini fridge filled daily with sprite, pepsi, beer, Greek branded lemonade and orangeade. The food was absolutely wonderful with a good selection every day which was served by the chefs on an all you can eat basis. It was not the same every day as some reviewers state unless you only like a particular thing and don't like trying local produce. There were plenty of greek foods on offer for opportunity to try as well which I enjoyed. Breakfasts were predominantly the same cooked was available for us brits and continental or cereals if you preferred a change or even both as you could eat as much as you wanted. The staff were very attentive with quick clearance of plates etc and very friendly. There was also the creperie for waffles, cakes, tea, coffee and pancakes by the main poolside where the staff provided waitress service and worked incredibly hard and also long hours as they were always the same staff on. Despite being on the go they always had a smile and excellent service. The pool bar we visited once as there was only one man on and he was clearly in need of additional help as he didn't stop. People were also dropping off beach towels there and wanting deposits or cards back to get their deposit back which should have all been elsewhere. Being end of season we managed to visit 4 out of the five outdoor restaurants Cretan, Mexican, Italian, (and sushi which was a lunchtime visit) which have to be booked at reception from 8am. Only one we didn't get into was Asian, how this would work in full season I don't know as we had to book 3 days ahead and one night an entire party took over one restaurant full stop and a party of 10 on another night which didn't seem fair for other guests staying. I personally enjoyed Cretan the best with Italian second, we got sat next to the pizza chef and watched him make all the pizzas ordered which was good. The shop on site was reasonably priced for souvenirs and snacks as we visited a neighbouring supermarket up the top of the hill and some things in the complex were cheaper, chap was friendly on site and also in supermarket. beach was across the road but not that clean, lots of litter, plenty of sun loungers though but sand was gritty, not shingle nor soft sand, worth a brief visit though for a paddle. I walked up the road for about 10 mins and found the most lovely natural Cretan products shop selling mainly soaps, pumice stones, natural sponge loofahs, body creams, olive wood products, sweets. This was very reasonably priced, owners were also friendly. we spent evenings in the champagne and also midnight bars off the main lobby where we played cards and on the ipad whilst drinking. wi fi is free but sadly only available in the main lobby, its terribly slow due to everyone piling in there using it so if you want to keep in touch with things its hit and miss and better before 8am rather than evenings. there were plenty of sun loungers available and not much bagging with a towel going on where we were always a space available somewhere. All in all only fault I could find was the wi fi and for me personally a niggle that I used the shower cap and some provided shower stuff early on in my holiday and it was never replaced for the rest of the week. Each room had a complimentary small bottle of greek red wine and olive oil in a wooden box if you wanted to take home. The spa areas are additional of course for treatments and we thought 10 euros each for a half hour swim in the heated pool or dip in the Jacuzzi was steep so gave it a miss. You can book trips with your tour rep in the hotel but trips are a little chaotic at where you've gone, you are picked up ok and usually at the blue bus stop down the bottom of the road on the left side of the hotel as you'd look at it from outside and you tend to be with your own nationality. We booked a beach BBQ and spinalonga island visit and had to give the tour guide an additional 2 euros each on board the bus which for ease should have just been added onto the tour cost as she gave out cards in return which we had to hand back in to her on arrival at spinalonga for your ticket. Also the beach BBQ was a bit chaotic as prior to us having this the boat dropped a separate party off on the return from spinalonga to another location, that was ok until we arrived at the cove for the BBQ and found some independent travelling brits belonging to neither party had stayed on board for the BBQ believing they could pay for it and it was only when they couldn't produce a prepaid card to give in they found they shouldn't have been on board. Our rep also didn't tell us we could have a swim whilst moored for the BBQ so we didn't have any swimwear with us, so for those wishing for a swim in warm sea wear your swim stuff under your clothes or change in the loo. We also ended up being asked to change buses on the actual journey back, this was due to where we were staying and had to board a French parties bus as no one had told us to board this at the return pick up point so we had boarded with our group as per instruction from the tour guide as you normally would, she and the bus did stay with us until the French bus arrived so be prepared you may not travel back with who you went with. The trip to Knossos palace was also chaotic in terms of it collided with a greek school party who were unruly and noisy climbing all over parts of the ruins. We also had to pay a further 6 euros each for an entry ticket into the palace as we were not told by our rep this was not included in the tour cost. Our tour guide who was fantastic ended up in many a greek rant with the kids and also the adults with them who were doing nothing to discipline. we went off to a fabulous little wine making facility in the mountains to sample wine, raki and liquers and also a working monastery and pottery after which were all amazing. There was an additional cost which was not optional - another 2 euros each for the monastery visit and if you wanted the lunch at the wine making place instead of the laguna making you a free pack up which you would have to cart around all day it was another 4-5 euros each but this was optional whether you had it or not. Other than that both places are definitely worth a visit. would recommend the mitsis laguna resort and spa and will definitely return to stay again in the near future.

Room Tip: if you want a quieter area ask for a camellia room as all blocks etc are named after flowers
