“Excellent hotel - best value for money ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Stayed here for one night before boarding a cruise ship. It may not be in the nicest of areas when you arrive at night but to be honest you are in the main port for Athens. If you approach from the waterfront area is it fine. The rooms are extremely clean and facilities excellent, the sound proof balcony door blocks out any street noise, the air conditioning worked well abd it is furnished to a good standard and even includes a fridge. We found a nice small cafe a few street away called Souvalakia Sakis although there is no sign on the place, a few cold beers and light greek snacks at reasonible price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is unbeatable for comfort and price. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you take the metro or bus from the airport take a taxi from the hotel from where you get off - on...

We stayed at this hotel one night because we took the ferry to Naxos the next morning. I already read al the stories on Tripadvisor and it was just what I expected. We paid 30 EUR (stayed in Sept) and it's totally worth your money. It's clean and actually looks kind of hip and renovated. The room is not very spacious, but big enough. Nice shower, AC was working perfectly and we even had a balcony. Only the bed was not really comfortable, but I think it is an average one for Greece because we had this kind of matras more often during our visit to the islands. The staff was nice and Pireaus is fun to start your vacation. I thought Pireaus was just a harbour.... But there are a lot of nice shops, it's lively and we had a great Greek dinner (real Greek and nothing touristic) at a small restaurant. The menu was only written in Greek and the chef translated everything in English just for us. We loved it! Next time we will not go to Athens....Pireaus is fun!

Well priced, perfectly located to catch an early ferry. Clean hotel, nice rooms and crisp linen. I can only recommend this hotel as it was a great experience. The ONLY thing stopping me from giving a 5 star rating is when I asked for directions, they told me what bus stop to get off at..it ended up being about 2 km away from the hotel, which was a pain in the butt with luggage.

Otherwise, excellent.

On 9th August 2012 my partner and I missed our ferry to Poros and stayed at the Faros 1 Hotel. The hotel was excellent value, handy for the port and the receptionist was particuarly helpful phoning ahead to the island informing them of our delay. The accomodation was very good.An excellent breakfast pre ordered at 5 euros was provided and we would definitley use again.

Whilst it is very cheap the hotel & room was clean and had a comfy bed and a small fridge and tv, which we didnt use. The room was very small, and the lift is tiny but quick! We requested a cot, told no problems, when we arrived were told by the clerk they didn't have cots and that WE wrote the email saying they had cots pretending it was them! WTF! After that arguement they accommodated us as best they could, but no cot meant a sleepless night. (not happy jan)

They email you directions after booking, these arent much help and its about 1km walk with your case along the crap road (as the pavement is full of cars). Id suggest a taxi from the bus stop they tell you get off at.

The area is quite sus too with a few dodgy joints around (cant comment on the strip joints, wife wouldnt let go so I could do a trip adviser review on them lol), there seem to be a few hotels in the area though!

We left early in the morning and a taxi to Port 7 cost us $7 Euro.

Faros.... Get some cots, Jumbo has them from $40 already!

We came back from the islands about 11pm. Our boat docked at gate 9, the hotel is very close to gate 10. I think this is the piece of information missing from previous reviews. As there were not much local people around at that time (except taxi drivers who tried to get us on a taxi), we had no one to ask how to get to the hotel. So we made the wrong turn by going to gate 6 the metro station direction. Half the way we realized we were not going to get anywhere by walking and asking (practically no one along the way knew where the hotel was, only one guy, a stand owner, said he knew the street and pointed us to the right direction) so we turned on our cellular data and identified the locations by google map. Everything became easier after that.

In summary, it is close to where we got off our boat. It is a little far, probably 15 minutes of walking, to the metro station, with a turn or two along the way you have to stop and think where you should be going. we walked to the metro station fine. Be careful the metro station doesn't look anything special so you might pass it without knowing easily.

Room is good size and clean. This is probably the only hotel that couldn't produce a power converter we needed for us in Greece so we left our gadgets uncharged. I am not sure about the market conditions for late June but deep in my heart, I think given everything, it is a bit pricy for its 50 euro/night. Had it be at 30 euro/night, I would have rated it five stars.

Not in the thick of everything, but not that far from anything. Modern hotel, with elevators to the rooms. Free wifi. Not any restaurants very close, but within walking distance. Port and railway station a couple kilometers. Friendly staff that speaks English. Travel Agency in the hotel to help with reservations on ferries to the islands.
