“A Homerun”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

This restaurant is a homerun. It's a small place where Maria takes your order and then prepares your meal. You won't find a place like this everywhere yo go. The food quality is excellent and real! It's not a phony touristy place or haute cuisine. Just a great Greek dinner prepared with love. It's going to take a while to eat as Maris is not in a hurry.

Do NOT walk to this restaurant as the neighborhood is post-apocalyptic. Very funky. Tons of graffiti and homeless people. However, take a taxi. Do not let this deter you form enjoying this dining experience.

“So Memorable”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We learned about Klimataria as part of a food tour we were on in Athens. This little gem of a restaurant was one of the stops. The owner/chef was absolutely delightful and so welcoming. She explained various dishes to us and it was clear that she loves her trade! We made arrangements to come back for dinner and it was quite a treat. The food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is charming. We also enjoyed the traditional Greek music. Everything about our evening Klimataria was very memorable. Genuine. We would not have traded our experience here for any other restaurant.

“A bit disappointing”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We ate with the four of us in the restaurant. The service was friendly, but poor. The dishes were rudimental and lacked attention and inspiration. The prices however were friendly and the musiciens were excellent.

“Thank you Maria!”
Reviewed July 7, 2013

My wife and I first found out about Klimataria when my wife did a cooking lesson there (see separate review, search TripAdvisor for: "Athens Cooking Day Tours Maria"). We had so much fun that night we came back the next night for a meal. The food was fantastic - authentic home-made Greek cuisine. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and Maria, the owner and chef, came out several times to chat with us and to make sure we were enjoying ourselves despite having been cooking all day long. Definitely recommend this place for an authentic Greek food experience.

“Real Greek gem”
Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

Although this magnificent taverna was within 300 metres of our hotel, for some reason it did not pop up on TripAdvisor when sorting by location. When checking our choice with our hotel receptionist though, this restaurant was pointed out - No. 6 out of 800 odd restaurants in Athens. Warm welcome, friendly service, live entertainment and fantastic traditional food prepared in front of you - a personalised two-person cooking course was on the go while we ate. We - wife and I and two children aged 13 and 14 - loved it, and the cherry on top was that it was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
