You have to search this one out as it is not on any main road, but it is well worth it. The welcome we received and the friendlyness were outstanding. The decor is rustic and the food is excellent. Wide choice of traditional dishes. If I had anything other than good to say about the menu it would be that "fried potatoes" are infact chips and not some twist on a Greek dish. Everything else was great. Very good value for money and not in any way expensive. We were really lucky in that on the night we ate there (Tuesday) there was a quartet singing and playing Greek music which made for a wonderful evening. I don't usually gush about these things but this restaurant is worth it.

The area seems quite suspecious, but the hospitality of the owner Maria make you look at this as absolutelyt authentical and safe place. If you want to see real greek taverna, you have to come here. We had a group of customers 25 person, two previouse days we went to luxury restaurants the food was good there as well, but all the group were most impressed by this small taverna and decribed it as unforgettable evening. The food was very delisiouse, especially pork and lamb. The live music was fantastic.

We hunted out this gorgeous little taverna because of the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed.

On arrival, we were given fresh crusty bread & a glass of complimentary raki, which always kicks off any Greek meal well!

This was followed by a starter from their cheese menu & very tasty.

We then shared two dishes of a casseroled lamb/zucchini & a casseroled pork/mushroom & pepper which were tender, tasty and melted in your mouth.

The Taverna is only a 10-15 minute walk from Ominia Square towards the Plaka area & a little out of the way but is the genuine deal. We would definately recommend seeking out this little jewel in Athens.

We wanted to taste the real Greek food and we found on Tripadvisor this small Greek tavern. Amazing food!! The lamp we tasted was something like an endless dream. Maria, the hostess, is a really smiley and kind woman. She showed us every dish one by one to help us with our choice. The service was very good and the environment is something exotic!! I think it was the highlight of our stay!

We read about this place at the last minute and are so glad we found it. We loved it so much we went back for a second evening! It's off the tourist trail, but is really only 5 minutes walk from Monastiraki.

We were greeting by Maria who speaks perfect English, and given a glass of raki, tsatsiki and bread, then a menu to order from. There is a good range of dishes, including vegetarian (which I had, and were delicious). After our meal we were given fruit and two more glasses of raki, all on the house.

The decor is lovely - really individual and rustic, with plants trailing from the ceiling.

There was a cooking class taking place on the second evening which looked like huge fun.

I really recommend this place as an oasis of calm in Athens, and at a bargain price.
