We hunted out this gorgeous little taverna because of the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed.

On arrival, we were given fresh crusty bread & a glass of complimentary raki, which always kicks off any Greek meal well!

This was followed by a starter from their cheese menu & very tasty.

We then shared two dishes of a casseroled lamb/zucchini & a casseroled pork/mushroom & pepper which were tender, tasty and melted in your mouth.

The Taverna is only a 10-15 minute walk from Ominia Square towards the Plaka area & a little out of the way but is the genuine deal. We would definately recommend seeking out this little jewel in Athens.

We wanted to taste the real Greek food and we found on Tripadvisor this small Greek tavern. Amazing food!! The lamp we tasted was something like an endless dream. Maria, the hostess, is a really smiley and kind woman. She showed us every dish one by one to help us with our choice. The service was very good and the environment is something exotic!! I think it was the highlight of our stay!

We read about this place at the last minute and are so glad we found it. We loved it so much we went back for a second evening! It's off the tourist trail, but is really only 5 minutes walk from Monastiraki.

We were greeting by Maria who speaks perfect English, and given a glass of raki, tsatsiki and bread, then a menu to order from. There is a good range of dishes, including vegetarian (which I had, and were delicious). After our meal we were given fruit and two more glasses of raki, all on the house.

The decor is lovely - really individual and rustic, with plants trailing from the ceiling.

There was a cooking class taking place on the second evening which looked like huge fun.

I really recommend this place as an oasis of calm in Athens, and at a bargain price.

I went there because I was staying at a hotel nearby and what a nice suprise. It was a great experience, the atmosphere is lovely, with some greek music (live band), the food is great and Maria is so nice and pay a lot of attention to all the clients. I'll be back!

I think most of the reviews here sum this up. Good home cooking in a nice atmosphere. We ate early (7pm) and there was only one other couple there. Service was friendly and really helpful ( they do this well in Greece.

Stuffed squid was excellent as was all the food and reasonably priced.

I have seen comments about how this is situated in a really bad area. And yes it does feel like the hood but I think it probably looks worse than it is!
