“Second time unlucky”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

After an amazing meal with attentive service this past summer, my recent visit with my partner was a disappointing ending to our brief stay in Athens. During the summer the roof was open so the smoke from the two other clients who were there at the same time didn't inconvenience me.
We dropped by on Saturday to ask about the weekend opening hours and were warmly greeted and told that there was live music on Sunday from 16:00 to 19:00. Although it seemed a bit early to dine, we felt we had to get back for the end of the show at least. No regrets at all for having done that. A group of four musicians and singers performed traditional Greek songs to the delight of the huge mixed age crowd that had mostly finished dining by the time we arrived. Finished dining but certainly not finished smoking! We were warmly greeted by the owner again and when we found a table we were welcomed with a glass of raki each and a plate of tzatziki and bread to enjoy while we were deciding what to order. Unfortunately several of the items were finished because of the huge crowd that had already eaten. We were able to have only half an order of stuffed peppers. Truly unfortunate because we probably would have made a meal of them. The beet salad was also excellent. The sliced, fried sausages were extremely salty. We also ordered a plate of french fries (homemade) and said we would see what we wanted after that. We had long finished the other items when the french fries finally arrived. The waiter had never returned to see if we wanted anything else so we told the busboy, doubling as serving staff, that we had also decided on the chicken dish. He said fine. Some time later when the french fries were nearly finished we suggested there may have been a misunderstanding and that we had in fact wanted to order the chicken. We were told, "ok, no problem" (for the misunderstanding, apparently). No sign of chicken or any motion in the kitchen to prepare it so we ordered the bill, finished our wine and left to the total indifference of the owner and the waiter. We couldn't have been more disappointed with what we had been counting on to be a top notch end to our trip.

“Find this place whatever you do”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

This is one of those places that you just stumble across while getting lost in the back streets between Ominia and Monastiraki. Do make the effort and look for it. On a recent work trip I and
my collegues visited and ate heartily on 4 occasions in a 10 day period. Its not expensive and the food is good Greek cuisine that you could find on the table of any normal household in Athens. The welcome is alway very warm, the food is perfect, the wine is homemade and truly
delicious. (you can even book cooking lessons here). I can say that our group unanimously
voted Klimataria the best restaurant for people that like good plain delicious cooking. The weekends are also very special with superb Greek Jazz Folk fusion and lots of dancing.
I really do urge you to make the effort to find Klimataria and enjoy the experience

Klimataria is a small and cosy taverna.
There was a live band with traditional greek music.
Food was great.

“Friendly people, very good traditional greek food and music”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Nice place in a clumsy area of central Athens. Genuine greek taste and hospitality, we had also a very nice live music performance. The goat with potatoes is worth a visit. They told it's also inexpensive, but I didn't see the bill. I will go back for sure next time I will be in Athens
