“A very elegant and serious place to eat”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

The place has very warm atmosphere, elegant, service is excellent, the wine list is honest, and the dishes are really fresh with top quality ingredients. The food is not heavy and very easy to digest even if eaten late in the night. Its one of our favourite places in Athens. Not cheap...

“just don't go”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

Went on a Saturday night with dad and sister.

Walked-in at 21:00 to a completely empty restaurant, apart from one customer who was eating alone and was probably travelling for business.
Given the prices that this restaurant charges and the current situation in Greece I was willing to forgive the empty and cold room and went on to explore the menu which I was then informed that it was a "sample menu" (?) so dishes had to be announced by the waiter.
Unfortunately the numerous dishes had to be repeated twice by the waiter as we forgot them half-way the process of selecting them.. All of that did not matter of course, because given the accolades of this place, food was going to be great.
First we received an amuse bouche which was a white asparagus soup, quite decent, but quantity was alarmingly big (leftovers??)
Then the warm bread arrives with some nice spreads... and that was the best part of our meal
The dishes
a) Noodles with smoked seafood and saffron sauce
We were served a lump of noodles with pieces of lobster, prawns, and salmon trimmings (!!!) . Lobster ok, although somewhat chewy and noodles overcooked. Overall dish was dull and according to my dad very salty.
Prawn meatballs with dill
I had a bite from my sister’s dish- pretty much tasteless. Nothing more to add.

Given the huge portions we were served and the neutral flavours on both starters (save the saffron sauce) I suspect both dishes were leftovers

The mains
a) John Dory
My sister said her fish was very nicely cooked and tender, but I was obvious the skin was soft and soggy, which is unacceptable for a 30 Euro dish...

b) Duck fillet
Both portions came OVERCOOKED which was very disappointing and it seemed that the chef had put it only in the over instead of pan-frying it and the finish it off in the oven.

C) Sides
We were given 5 roast potatoes from which half of them were undercooked and some steamed vegetables. Cauliflower was ok but broccoli was badly overdone...

For one of the few times in my life when going out for dinner I decided not to order any dessert to avoid further disappointment....

The bill came at a whopping 180 Euros with 4 glasses of wine.
The bill was not itemized and was given to us as a lump-sum...The waiter/manager did not even have the courage to ask how we found out food....

“Amazing food, atmosphere and service”
Reviewed January 14, 2012

The quality of the food is exceptional, original dishes served with great attention to detail and outstanding service, up to the standards of the best restaurants we have been elsewhere such as Paris. The atmosphere of the place, which is in fact a beautiful apartment in a part of the authentic Athens, is enhanced by a theatre-inspired decoration. Tables are well apart so you get privacy. Good food needs time, so if you're in a rush go somewhere else (we stayed there about 3 hours). Otherwise, a must, probably the best place to eat in Athens (and I've tried a few).
