Description: The restaurant is a perfectly restored villa from the early years of the previous century. The decor strikes the perfect balance between luxury and ambience, creating an atmosphere which is quite formal but still unpretentious, cozy and elegant. The restaurant's creative cuisine has been awarded many times and promises to impress you with a brilliant parade of re-synthesized Greek cuisine The chef Gikas Xenakis is one of the best proponents of the New Greek Cuisine movement which now attracts the most talented chefs in Greece. His philosophy is one that combines a calm but confident control of the modern cooking techniques with his memories of traditional home food cooked with the best and freshest ingredients that the sea and land of Greece offers. At Aleria you will enjoy Greek fine dining in wonderful surroundings in what is considered as one of the best value for money restaurants.

I have been to Aleria a number of times and the food is consistently superb! The garden is absolutely beautiful in the summer but the indoors is also very tastefully decorated and authentic in the winter. The staff is always polite and friendly and you can tell they enjoy working there. A definite must try in Athens! The last time we visited we had an elaborate tasting menu with wine tasting which was worthy of the highest praise and also very reasonably priced.

Definately one of the best restaurants that i have ever visited. One week ago i visited the restaurant. The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated with lovely lighting.Σervice was impeccable as you would expect . Food was magnificent. Everything that we tasted was amazing. Special reference need to be made for "Pastitsio" since you cannot expect to be amazed from something that you taste since you were born...

We visited Athens in November to support our son who was running the Athens Classic Marathon.

We had researched a local restaurant near to our hotel and decided upon Aleria. We were not disappointed.

A short taxi ride from the centre of the city we arrived at an ornate wooden door to be greeted with a warm friendly welcome. We were taken to our table on the first floor in a very classy yet comfortable dining room reminiscent of a high end London restaurant. The sound of swing and jazz lent itself to a relaxed atmosphere where we enjoyed great food and wine in a leisurely hustle free environment.

The dinner cooked by Dikas and his team was impeccable. From a starter of a three way beetroot salad to a mouth watering pork belly to a sumptuous halva desert. The wine list was well chosen and our introduction to fine Greek wines was a revelation. The Malbec was exceptional.

If you want the speed of a quick taverna style meal that's fine but we prefer a marathon not a sprint and left at 2:30am fully replenished after a wonderfully entertaining evening.

We enjoyed Aleria so much we went back the following evening! After having a very bad experience at another restaurant we called the owner, Niki, and he was able to accommodate us on what was a busy Saturday evening. Fantastic service and a restaurant not to miss.

My wife and I are both serious foodies and private chefs... and we agree that this was one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had, anywhere. The room, the service, the starters, the main courses and the dessert were all impeccably delivered. The wine was also excellent; the server suggested a more modestly priced bottle (24 euros) but when I asked if this would really be her top choice she suggested one of the more expensive bottles (30 euros) on the list.
Rarely have we had food which was spot-on for all three courses, which was the case here. Flavours were perfectly developed, combinations original but not startling, presentation pretty without being fussy. Judging from the other Friday diners, this is a very popular choice of the locals, so be sure to book; we went at 20h30 and were able to get ahead of the service curve as other patrons arrived at 21h or 21h30; this might be a good startegy if you don't want to get bogged down in the kitchen rush.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and, quite seriously, we are considering a trip back to Athens just to go back!

My girlfriend and I visited Aleria on a Saturday night. Although very busy upon our arrival, we were shown to our table immediately (we had a 21:00 reservation). The hostess acknowledged our romantic dinner, and was very warm.

We were seated upstairs, in a nice elegant room. Our waiter was very warm and knowledgeable. We started with the Cod brandade balls with spinach rice and spicy mayo, which was very good. The seasoning and texture was excellent. I ordered the Sea food orzo risotto, and my girlfriend ordered Gnocchi with octapus & ‘Arseniko’ cheese crème. The octapus was excellent - very tender and seasoned well. The Seafood orzo risotto was so exceptional that I really do recommend you to taste it. It will be as unforgettable as your first love!

After the meal, we ordered Halva mousse & Millefeuille with galaktobureko cream, which were pretty good.

All in all, more than a great dinner. We left full and completely satisfied. Value for money.

Great meal! Thanks to the team there!
