“Good food and service but beware ...”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

Excellent food and service but beware of ordering off the menu (like the fresh fish of the day) because no matter what it is, you will get raped. We made that mistake and paid dearly for it. They charged the fish at 70Euro per kilo which is outrageous. Other than that the food was very good, the service also very nice, great desserts including one of the best pannacotta anywhere and the loukoumade is worth traveling back for :)
the grilled octopus was sensational as was the very simple yet delicious greek salad, mousaaka made like at home, good local wines, etc
The location is also very nice in the neighborhood

“Psarra Rooftop Dining in Athens”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

This was recommended by our concierge when we requested a good restaurant in the Plaka area, after touring the Acropolis. It was a bit hard to find, but so worth it. We turned a corner and asked someone where was Psarra, and he said this is it! It was a bit confusing, as I think Psarra is a combination of three restaurants with different names which all have the same owner, use the same kitchen. We walked up the stairs to Psarra Tavern, and kept walking up the stairs to a rooftop dining area…. Amazing! Over one shoulder was the Acropolis, lit up for the night, and over the other, great night time views of Athens and Lycabettus hill. And wonderful Greek music in the background!
Great service, love the bottle of recommended red wine, a nice Greek blend. The food was good, we shared a Greek salad, and both had lamb dishes. But the ambience was the best of all! Perfect first night in Athens!

Excellent greek food, original, not changed for the taste of tourists, overview to the city from a nice quiet terrace.

“The Fisherman's dining experience”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

The Fisherman's (Psaras) Tavern is a popular place where the locals tend to visit for a dining experience. It is one of the oldest restaurants in the tourist area of Plaka and serves delectable dishes of the Greek cuisine. The tavern is known for its strong and delicious flavors like grilled octopus in olive oil, along with other dishes like the zucchini, kabobs, and lamb shank with sauce.

It is housed in two mansions, one across from the other with tables outside. The patio between has tables and provides good shade in summer. The tavern also works in winter and has a warm interior decoration, made from stone and wood. It is ideal for special occasions like wedding or birthdays and it frequently has live music.

“Great experience!!”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Great food, Great place ( it is in Anafiotica), Great atmosphere. After a long day, this is the place to be, with completely a different atmosphere from the crowd.
We tried Mosaca, greek salad and Lamp chops which were all great.
It is a bit hard to find, but it worth it.
