The museum starts with Seeing ruins some 10 meters below your feet while you are waking on glass panels. Everything in the museum is amazing and the story telling through the panels is enough to let you immerse yourself 3000 years ago.
Spend time to watch the 2 videos on the 3 edition floor.
A gem! Do not miss

We visited the museum after taking our kids to the Acropolis and up to the Parthenon. The museum is world-class: modern, well air-conditioned, and with just the right density of artifacts beautifully displayed. All explanations are in Greek and English. There is a limited cafe that we did not eat at, but it offers beautiful views.

The museum is a gorgeous modern building whose architectural style alone makes it something to see. As you approach the entrance, you walk over glass to view the excavated ancient site below...very cool to set the tone of all the history you are about to see.

Well laid out museum that has interesting displays about the acropolis with many sculptures and artifacts. The short movie is good to orient you about what you are seeing.

It has a lovely museum store with great books in many languages-stuff you won't find elsewhere. Large cafe with ample seating and outdoor space to take a rest.

Tip: great to come here during the heat of the day to be in air conditioning! They won't let you take in bags but have an efficient free bag check which is nice to not have to carry stuff around.

We were so impressed with this museum. Wonderfully organized and easy to negotiate. Went on small tour and then spent time on our own. For anyone that I know that is going to Athens I always recommend they include this museum in their plans. So many interesting and well displayed historical items. We actually visited in October 2014, but that date was not available in the drop down box for the review.
