Like the person below said, “the set from a horror film that had been long forgotten” I can't really complain tho as I got what I asked for!!!

I was only in Athens for one night for a concert out there so I said to the taxi "I just need somewhere cheap to get my head down"...

The receptionist was very helpful and told me not to head left out of the hotel because "you will get robbed in that area" ha. I'm a big guy but must admit I didn't feel safe on those streets... Also didn't feel like my belongs would be safe left in the room but again I got what I asked for "somewhere cheap"

Stayed in Diros Hotel for 3 nights for a conference in 2010 October. It is in the center, within 3 minutes walking to the metro.
Positives: cheap, clean (maid comes every day to make the bed), close to the metro, free wifi. Staff was helpful.
Negatives: old, shabby rooms and scrubby furniture, old bedsheets, poor breakfast (wrapped toast, jam, wrapped pastry and coffee). Also the neighborhood might be a bit scary for a woman alone: when I arrived at the first night around 8 pm, junkies, drug-dealers and prostitute-looking ladies were standing in the street doing business, but nobody wanted to hurt me. Well, one boy asked if I'm looking for sex, but after a definite "NO" he went away. On the other 2 nights I didn't notice any of those annoyances and the place seemed peaceful.

For this price it was O.K., but I would not recommend it to solo woman travellers.

Very much simple hotel, but cleaned daily. Breakfast-very poor. Very thin walls. Most of the windows go to the inner yard walls.

Just checking in to this hotel was a nightmare!

Arriving at the hotel at 10pm, I had to wait for the night clerk to take THE CHAINS off the doors to the lobby (he explained that the chains were to prevent the junkies from coming in). Even though I had received confirmation of my booking, the hotel said that they did not keep records of online bookings. So we request a room for one week. At which point the night clerk looks my friend and I up and down and asks us for how many hours we would like to take the room! Since it was two days before New Year's Eve, and hotels were either unavailable or unaffordable to us, we accept the room.

The room reminded us of the set from a horror film that had been long forgotten. Upon entering the room, we noticed that a bathroom door did not exist because it had been completely eaten away by mold. All that was left was a strip of moldy wood barely hanging on to the hinges. There was no shower curtain and the shower itself looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in over a year.

There were pubic hairs in the sheets. The beds were broken. There wasn't a closet, but rather some type of make-shift cupboard. The television received only 2 stations - the local news channel and a random 24hr hardcore porn channel. We spent the next half hour taking all the mirrors and vents off the walls to make sure there were no hidden cameras.

Needless to say there weren't any available amenities.

Please note that the hotel was smack in the center of Athens, only a 3 minute walk from the Suntagma and the tomb of the unknown soldier. Also, the hotel is located next to the underground station, making the rest of town very accessible. The location of this hotel was the only thing it had going for it; however, I recommend paying the extra amount and booking in advance one of the other gorgeous hotels in the area.
