We were visiting Athens in August and had a very nice lunch in the shade very close to the Akropolis. The fresh juices (fruitsmoothies) are delicious! The green salad was great too and the open sandwhiches topped with cheese are fab. We went back there for a late afternoon snack and another round of juices. Absolutely great and would love to go back; recommended to all!

The food was wonderful but order wisely, a friend got a small croissant with turkey, cheese, lettuce and tomato which came to 4 euro but another ordered an open faced sandwich for only 5 but it was a much larger portion with a small side salad as well (a wiser choice). The location of the cafe is very convenient right around the corner from the Akropolis. The restaurant is nicely shaded and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
The bread is fresh and there is a choice of hot and cold sandwiches with a wide variety of different toppings and different types of bread ranging from pastry, dark rye breads and ciabatta. If we were not leaving athens today I would definitely return!

This quaint cafe nestled in the Plaka is a great spot for a quick lunch! On the inside of the cafe you'll find a small counter and outside there are about 10 tables that will give you a great view for people watching as life in the bustling Plaka area unfolds.

The menu has a good selection of reasonably priced sandwiches and salads that are light and fresh. I don't remember the exact name of what I ordered but it was a great open sandwich with fresh tomatoes, cheese, basil and pesto - YUM!

Situated at the base of the Acropolis and museum, my friend and I split a sandwich and dessert. There's a small amount of counter seating inside, and tables outside with a fabulous view. The food was so good, we ate there twice in two days. All the ingredients are very fresh - the bread is especially good - and the desserts are wonderful. It's the perfect place if you want something a little lighter as opposed to a full, sit-down meal. The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely return!

What a treat to settle on Makriyianni3 for afternoon coffee

When in Greece do as the Greeks!

I had frappe coffee and the traditional Greek spice cake

A perfect combination of a cooling coffee and a melt in your mouth sponge cake
(If you're not convinced check out my accompanying picture)

Hard to believe that you are sitting only a stones throw from the Parthenon at the Akropolis

Enjoy the sweet treats that are readily available here

:) :) :)
