I stayed in Athens for a few days after finishing a cruise and booked this hotel based on location and price. It was a good choice for a budget accommodation and very, very clean.

I had a single room which was advertised as having a view. I think that's debatable given that I could only see part of the wall that is below the Acropolis but I had a balcony that looked out at the large cathedral across the street and it was nice to be able to open the door during the day. Unfortunately, the church is undergoing a massive renovation so it wasn't too pretty to look at!

The hotel is in a good location in the Plaka area and I walked to everything I wanted to see (Acropolis, Acropolis museum, Temple of Zeus, flea market, Parliament, etc.)

The staff were great and so helpful with anything I needed. Everyone I dealt with was so friendly and accommodating. They even let me borrow their outlet adapter which I forgot at home!

I also have to mention the wine bar "Heteroclito" right around the corner since they don't have their own page on Tripadvisor yet. What a great find and a fun place to spend an evening. I met quite a few interesting people there and had some good food and inexpensive wine. They have an enormous selection and I will go back there the next time I'm in Athens.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for the traveler on a budget.

Room Tip: The "view" rooms face the street which is a bit noisy. The church bells ring all night lo...

I had previously written a rather scathing review of this establishment. I subsequently found out that this hotel is a family owned business and therefore I’ve deleted the original review and have chosen to write a less "colorful" and more objective account of our stay. As it is a family business, I give them the benefit of the doubt that they may not have as much capital to make renovations as compared to corporations and so the revised review is as follows. This is the middle ground between not being overly harsh but at the same time still offering insight into our stay for other tripadvisor users.

The three star average TripAdvisor rating I gave is compared to other 2 star budget hotels we have stayed at and not of hotels in general.

Pros:
1) Location - Midway between syntagma and monastiraki stations so it is convenient to get to all sites. Good selection of restaurants and shopping nearby. There are a few hotels on the same street but this one is one of the most affordable.

2) Private balcony which depending on your room gives you a nice view of the Acropolis.

3) Modern and clean bedroom quarters. Includes free slippers.

4) Polite hotel staff. 24/7 reception.

Cons:
1) Outdated and very small bathroom. No shower handle mount. No place to put toiletries in shower besides on the floor. Shower curtain not long enough so floor gets wet. Drainage cover not flush with floor (approx 3.5" diameter hole 1" below floor level which may pose a tripping hazard.)

2) Entrance has a reception desk for staff but no place or chairs for guests to sit.

3) Small elevator with manual door that fits approximately 1 person with 1 luggage so multiple trips may be necessary if you have several pieces of luggage. Elevator does not seem large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Also, there are a few steps to take before reaching the elevator so this may pose challenged for the elderly or handicapped.

All in all, if you're looking for a basic hotel in a good location, this is an okay value for your money as long as you go in without high expectations.

We were pleased upon arriving to find our room looked through the bouganvilla to the Acropolis; great to wake up to and great at night with the Parthenon lit up. The hotel was really well located, we walked to Acropolis, Plaka restaurants, parliament house, markets and New Acropolis Museum no problems. Staff were helpful and friendly.

This is a great budget hotel that is very close to the tourist sights in downtown Athens. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean and tidy.

Keep in mind they only take cash and make sure to ask for the wi-fi password.

Note: Apparently in Athens the numbers on opposite sides of the street don't match up exactly with one another. I was trying to find this hotel, and saw numbers 45 and 47 accross the street, but I was only standing in front of an empty building. Not to worry, it was just down about another block and a half, but I freaked out for just a moment.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room on the higher floors. I stayed on the first floor (2nd floor by US measures...

Dear Stu H,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel.

It can be a little confusing with the numbers in Greece no need to worry it happens to many Greeks also, but note we are the building with the tallest boucamvillia in the world so you can spot us easily.
Visa and Master card are also welcome we do not accept only American Express

The hotel is in an excellent location for all the sights of Athens and the staff are very friendly. We chose a superior double room which had a small balcony on which we could just about sit. There was a fine view of the Acropolis from here, as well as from the bedroom's main window. The bathroom had only a shower, and at times it was difficult to regulate the water temperature. We had to ask for more coat-hangers, but these were readily forthcoming. Otherwise I have no complaints regarding the room, which was in good decorative order. The breakfast on the rooftop was typical of southern Europe, i.e. disappointing by northern European standards, consisting of a rather dry toasted ham and cheese sandwich, bread-roll and jam, Greek-style yogurt, orange juice and tea/coffee, but with little opportunity for a top-up of the tea/coffee. Lastly, the hotel is next to the cathedral whose clock chimes the hour throughout the night. This was not a problem for us but I imagine could be for others. None of these criticisms were really serious, but they are the reason why the hotel only gets 4 stars. All in all, this is a good place to stay, and the free Wi-Fi accessible from all the rooms is a real bonus.

Room Tip: Ask for the room on an upper floor with a view of the Acropolis.

Dear OandA-London,

Thank you for your comments.
We are very glad you liked our hotel and have enjoyed your stay.
The breakfast is something we are working on because it is not easy to satisfy everyone but your suggestion is valuable to us.

Great hotel in a fantastic location...rooms are on the small side but apparently this can be a norm for downtown Athens...beyond that the staff are excellent, place is clean and the views of Acropolis are brilliant...as mentioned the location cannot be beat, easy access to the metro (especially coming from the airport), Plaka is right on its doorstep and most the major sites are in easy walking distance...no hesitation recommending this place, would stay again in a heartbeat...
