We really enjoyed Keramikos. It's rather out of the way from the other ancient sites included on the Acropolis joint ticket, but I thought it was worth it. My daughter's favorite part was all of the tortoises we saw near the stream. Unfortunately, the museum was closed the day we went, but we enjoyed the rest. A guidebook would definitely add to the experience.

Good indoor and outdoor exhibition with plenty of graves and statues. The indoor exhibition gives precious information about what makes this cemetery so special

One of the most underrated ancient sites of Athens. It is a very pleasant stroll, you can hear the water of the little stream, strolling around the graves and depicting with your fantasy the ancient gate of the city.

All archaeological sites are worth visiting! In Athens, you should make sure to mark down the ones you are more interested in! Kerameeikos is a must!

Find Ursula Knigge's book (it exists in German and English, but is becomeing hard to find - they used to sell it at the gate), and go through the site with a fine comb. You'll learn at least 50% of the history of Athens in half a day. The museum is stupendous.
