My family of 4 (Americans) stayed at Central and had two rooms with two twin beds in each with frig. The location was great for seeing Athens and the view from the terrace is just perfect. The staff was great. The food/drink/service on the terrace was excellent, great way to spend the evening after touring the city by day. Rooms were clean and accomodating. Breakfast was really good as well with a variety of eggs, fruit, bread, coffee, juice, etc. In addition they had a business center with a couple of computers for those that do not want to carry a laptop on vacation. Also we used Fantasy Tours and they were excellent as well.

Had a very brief stay at this hotel and met all my needs. My room was well laid out and had enjoy space for one. The bathroom was a generous size despite what other reviewers have commented. I didn't have any issues with the air-con in my room. I agree that the breakfast was a little lack lustre, but for the cheap price of my room I was content. Overall this hotel has an amazing location and easy to walk to all main sites of Athens.

Really nice hotel in the center of Athens, with amazing view to the Acropolis and the old town of plaka that you can enjoy it from their new Thea terrace bar on the seventh floor.Also the staff was friendly and they help us to organize our trip there!

Just spent a weekend here and Loved the Hotel. Its Central Location, gorgeous rooftop bar with well air conditioned cafe, exceptionally clean rooms and very helpful staff were delightful.
After breakfast pop out for a walk to anything worth seeing in Athens,
pop back for a dip in the hot tub and a view of Acroplis, and then get dressed to walk to all the worthwhile night life sections that Athens has to offer.

Pros:
* Good location (close to shopping, but quiet)
* Good value for the money
* Adjoining rooms great for families
* Clean

Cons:
* Tiny elevator (3 people max, no luggage) - this is a BIG deal if you have a room high up
* Insufficient air conditioning - your room will never get comfortable in the summer
* Services are the bare minimum (no room service, no laundry, no concierge, etc.)
* Small bathrooms/showers

Central Athens Hotel is a good option for a low-cost, no-frills hotel, centrally located in Athens. You're steps away from the main shopping district of the Plaka, and in easy walking distance to Syntagma Square, the Acropolis, the Roman Agora and the Ancient Agora.

The biggest issue we had with the hotel doesn't sound like much of a problem, but it really is. That's the single, tiny elevator that serves the entire building, including six floors of rooms. The elevator will only hold 3 passengers without any luggage. Practically speaking, this means the only way you can count on getting aboard is if you call it from the ground floor. So, if you think you're going to enjoy that rooftop bar with the view of the Acropolis, I hope you like stairs. Check-in and Check-out times will again oblige you to carry all your luggage up/down the stairs. There's no way you're catching the elevator with your bags at checkout time. Even if you do, you're talking about several trips. There is room for one person with two suitcases, or three people with no luggage, but that's it -- you'll be squished. If you are a person with disabilities, for whom walking many flights of stairs will be a problem, you should not consider this hotel.

It's also worth noting that the air conditioning is not up to the level demanded by summertime in Athens. It was topping 40 degrees celsius (104 farenheit) outside. It takes about 2 hours before the room even approaches comfortable, and the air conditioning turns off when you leave the room, so if you're out and about in the hot sun all day and want to collapse back in the comfort of your room, allow another 2 hours before the sweat begins to dry.

All of that being said, as long as you know what you're getting into and you're prepared to deal with the inconveniences I mentioned, the location is great and the hotel is really a good value for your money.
