The hotel is old but at first glance seems clean until you get to the room, the carpets seem to never have been washed and the bath was dirty. The staff wasn't serviceable and at sometimes plane out rude. Probably what overflowed the glass was the moment they called us at the room to ask when we were going to check out and we answered that we were going down in 2 minutes and they answered "I hope so"
The location is about 20 min walk to Acropolis or 4€ by taxi from Syntagma.
Everyone in the staff was friendly.
We had a three person room that had two normal beds and a shorter extra bed. I couldn't find any additional pillows in the room. The bath room was nice and clean. I found it strange that the minibar needs a key.
Like many others have told, there are nice views from the roof top bar, it's worth a visit especially after the sunset.
The wifi was fast and it also reconnects automatically.
We had to leave so early that they had made a takeaway breakfast for us. So, no experience of their breakfast. The breakfast bag was a really nice surprise, that was offered when we told that we will leave early.
There are a lot of original Greek restaurants at Olympiou street very close to the hotel.
Well located. Friendly front desk and bar. Lovely rooftop area with a view of major landmarks. It is magical at nighy. Bit disappointed as this hotel was chosen by us because breakfast was apparently included... it is not. It is an additional charge. Luckily we had budgeted for this unseen expense. The breakfast is ok. The only extra element I would add to the rooms is a little kettle with mugs for coffee.
The hotel is clean and confortable. The breakfast was ok and staff quite ok.
The best item is the rooftop terrace with a nice view to Acropolis, especially by night.
Location is quite central but not exactly in a very animated area - a 20 minutes walk to the main attraction.
Very ok overall.
We booked this hotel as it has a great view of the Acropolis from the rooftop bar. We figured that it should be easy access to the centre of Athens as we had not been to Athens before. Location was OK but it was at least a 20 minute walk to the Plaka each way. This was good exercise but the are closer hotels. The closer hotels, however, may be substantially more expensive. The Ilissos has good food and the room was quiet and comfortable albiet starting to look a little dated. Internet was very good and the staff were fantastic. My rating is probably a bit harsh but there is no pool, the breakfast is just average and the decor is a bit dated. We still consider that it is good value and if you don't mind a bit of exercise then the location is OK. The area is quiet and although a little run down (as is most of Greece) it certainly was safe to walk around at night.
