Stayed at the LLissos in June 2014. We had a late flight and only arrived in Athens at 20:30 Hours. Once at the hotel we were met by reception staff who efficiently booked us in and took time to give us a map and explain where the local eateries were. The room was modern and beds very comfortable. A television was supplied with some limited English channels. We had no view to speak of, only what appeared to be a school on the other side of the road. The hotel seems to be in a residential zone, with many local cafes and restaurants catering for locals. I personally thought that this was a positive thing as we were not charged extortionate tourist prices for food and the food itself was of a superior quality. We felt totally safe in the area and found everyone to be extremely helpful and friendly, albeit with a slight language barrier stemming from the fact that we were just outside the tourist zone. I did note that my attempts to say hello and thank you in Greek were met with a smile and appreciation. Although away from the tourist zone it was only a ten minute walk to the main area where the Acropolis is located. The is a roof-top terrace that has breathtaking views over Athens and the Acropolis. It really was a pleasure to sit there at night and take in the Acropolis, lit up and towering over Athens. There did appear to be a bar on the terrace but this was closed throughout our three day stay. However, very near to the hotel was a stall that sold cheap beer and wine which you can take up to the terrace for what would be a fraction of the price (we were not sure if this was allowed but no-one seemed to mind). We had the terrace to ourselves each night, although it must be noted that the hotel was quite quiet at the time. The hotel is relatively central to all tourist attractions and all can be walked easily. The hotel was extremely easy to find and to travel to from the airport. We took the Metro from the airport, taking the Blue line, changing at Syntagma and then going two stops on the red line to Sygrou-Fix. Once there, simply turn right at the top of the stairs leading out of the Metro, keep walking for 5-6 ,minutes and the hotel will be seen on your left. We only encountered the reception staff who spoke good English and were very helpful. We enquired regarding a taxi to the port and were recommended to come to reception at a certain time where a taxi will be called for us. We did this and the receptionist called the taxi and spoke with the driver when he arrived to ensure we were taken to the correct location. Whilst waiting for the taxi the receptionist offered us free drinks and biscuits/pastries from the breakfast buffet which had not started yet due to the time we were leaving, this was despite the fact that we did not have breakfast included with our accommodation. I have read reviews of people stating that they were ripped off by taxi drivers in Athens, however, we found the price to be a lot cheaper than expected and the driver not only took us to our ferry opposed to just dropping us off at the port entrance, but walked onto the ferry to enquire that we were about to board the correct one.

I would highly recommend this hotel for it’s location, excellent staff, modern rooms and very very reasonable price. The terrace with the view of the Acropolis was worth the price alone.

We just came back from Athens and we stayed in Ilissos Hotel. To be honest I choose it because of the price, but our stay was excellent. The staff were very friendly, room was very clean and warm with a lot of amenities , a lot of cabinets so you can keep your things tide ,big bath tub and the breakfast was not very rich but all served were tasty and fresh , ex. the juices , this is a big problem with a lot of Hotels that they serve this color liquid called juice. Rooms has city view the usual buildings of Athens, I dont know if they have rooms with a view .The location is very convinient , close to metro and major points of intresting. I would return to stay hapilly

Very hospitable staff! Were very helpful, informative and pleasant.
The area of the hotel is full of cafes, and even though its location is a few kilometers from the city center, the hotel is very close to the metro station (and only one station from the Acropolis) and bus line.
Clean rooms, comfortable bathrooms, good value for money!

Room tip: pick a high room, perhaps you will have a view of the Acropolis (depends on which side)

This hotel is a great value for a major European city, but isn't really anything special. The rooms are clean, but dated. Wi-fi is available but hit or miss (but this is something we encountered in most of the hotels in Greece). The location is convenient to most of the major sites but is out of the way in other aspects. The best part was the staff. They were exceptionally helpful, even calling us a cab to the airport at 2am. For the price, I would consider staying at this hotel again.

Nice and clean hotel with a good location. The bathroom was my favorite: hooks and enough table and space for cosmetics. Only minus was the temperature changes in a shower. The breakfast was not excellent but very good. The view from the roof terrace was nice. The staff was friendly and professional.
