The Arion is located down a dodgy-looking alley (where in Athens isn't?) but as soon as you enter, it is clean and well-maintained. Friendly staff, nice breakfast, reasonably sized rooms with attached bathroom. The highlight is the rooftop terrace with incredible views of the Acropolis and beyond!

Well priced city centre hotel. Clean, comfortable and close to some good restaurants/ cafes. Easy walking distance from the main attractions.
Not for you if you are looking for a branded hotel with all the facilities but great for a few days in Athens visiting the sites. AND we had a view of the acropolis!

I stayed in the hotel for 3 days , the hotel is really nice, friendly staff , but the surrounded area of the hotel is really bad old buildings , loaded with immigrants . But I will be back and I recommend it to everyone.

Yasou! (hello) Alfred at the Arion hotel was wonderful! We got to the other sister hotel which is where we had originally booked. Students had overbooked the hotel so they upgraded us to the Arion. Not only did they take us over by taxi at their cost but called our travel agents and rescheduled our driver back to airport (where we would fly to Myconos ) to come to this hotel. The bonus was getting a amazing close view of the Acropolis from our room , and also from the nice rooftop deck area. The service was wonderful . Thankyou Alfred! We will stay with you again next time we are in Greece. Effkaristo!

Room Tip: ask for a room with view of city or acropolis. The hotel is within walking distance to the Plaka(his...

We spent 5 nights at this hotel and it was perfect for us. It was clean, close to everything we wanted to do and even my 80-something parents could walk to the metro with suitcases from the Arion. Staff was very nice. Altogether great value.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights back in May. The neighbourhood seems somewhat unsafe when we first arrived at night but when I ventured out the next morning, it was a totally different world with lively market and many, many stores and restaurants nearby. As one of the fellow guest said, it seemed "worse than it actually is."
The rooms are very clean, rates very reasonable and the location very close to major attractions.
Stavros, a daytime receptionist, was extremely courteous and helped us with planning our trips to different places with valuable information. He even changed the room immediately for my friend and his spouse when they complained about the poor view their room had. In fact, their new room turned out to have a superb view with Acropolis and it made us somewhat envious.
The breakfast was nothing to write home about and just okay in my opinion.
The only thing I did not like was the gentleman manning the reception desk at night. His attitude reminded me of an indifferent and arrogant immigration officer you sometimes run into at an airport. He didn't seem to want to be there at all.
However, my poor first impression was soon substituted with overall pleasantness of the place and positive attitude of other staff that made our stay very much enjoyable.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on 5th or 6th floor to get an unobstructed Acropolis view.
