Only 10 minutes walking from the acropolis site and right by andreanou street where you can find tourist shops and Greek restaurant. It is ideal to walk around the plaka. I had a very quiet room on the back alley, no view of the acropolis from the room balcony but I enjoyed the quietness. Nice big bathroom for Greek standards and comfy bed. Nice breakfast. I'm not a fan of the carpet in the room but it was clean. As for value, I find Athens hotels expensive in general, maybe missing some competition to bring the price down!

Room Tip: I had a very quiet room on the back alley, no view of the acropolis from the room balcony but I enj...

We stayed here for three nights at the end of June, pre-cruise. Couldn't have been more pleased. Location is terrific, very near Metro, Acropolis Museum, lots of places to eat. Suite had a nice view, lots of space, extremely quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived early evening and the room was exactly as expected. Breakfast of fine if not exceptional. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Executive suites all have at least partial Acropolis views.

I selected the Ava Hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews. I was not disappointed! We arrived around 1 am because of flight delays, but we were warmly greeted at the front desk. (Also, prior to our arrival, I had emailed the hotel inquiring about a car transfer between the airport to the hotel.) I had a reply email back from Maria, the hotel manager, within one hour! She arranged an airport transfer with a charming man named Yannis (it was in his taxi). He met us outside of baggage claim with a sign with our name on it. WHAT A NICE PERSON! I had read so many bad things about the taxi drivers trying to rip-off tourists. Yannis was the exact opposite. He spoke proudly of his country, told of its traditions, etc. We tried to tip him since we were so delayed and he had to wait on us--but he did not want to take the tip--only the agreed upon price. We liked him so much we arranged for him to meet us at the Ava Hotel two days later to transfer us to the port for our cruise. I cannot recommend him enough! Ask Maria for the taxi driver named Yannis.
Now....back to the hotel review! Our room was wonderful! Their photos don't lie: from our balcony--located on the third floor--we looked out over the front of the hotel and to the left was Hadrian's Arch / Temple of Zeus, and to the right, our view was of the Acropolis! The Acropolis is a 10-minute walk away from the front door of the hotel. Hadrian's Arch is one block. The hotel sits on the edge of the Plaka---within a 3-4 minute walk you are in the heart of the Plaka. It could not be a better location.
Our suite was sparkling clean and the king size mattress was comfortable--high quality. It was quiet at night after 9 pm. We heard nothing from our room even though we looked out onto the street. But it is a charming side street really.
The breakfast buffet was average. Nothing spectacular, but certainly was plenty. That is not really a negative comment--just a statement. The food was fresh and the dining room was very clean. I cannot say enough about the service of all the staff we encountered, especially Maria.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.....I really don't know how you would be disappointed.

Room Tip: We may be partial, but ask for the room on the 3rd floor with the huge balcony with the flags. It is...

We were a group of 4 ladies staying over one night before catching a ferry to Mykonos. even before arriving to the Ava the staff gave great attention and service to me. I was expecting a Fed-Ex package before my arrival and they handle the matter for me with superb attention.. The staff is very welcoming and eager to please... We stayed in a suite on the main road, the view from our balcony was amazing... to left was zeus and the right was acropoli.. the area is great for walking around plaka. it is centrally located to most sites that one wants to see while in ATHINA. Upon welcoming us to our very spacious and well decor´d room, we were greeted with a welcoming bottle of champagne... The staff gave great attention to us and we were very delighted with our stay.. the rooms, the view, the decor, the very large and spacious bathroom all accommodated a group of 4 ladies... THANK YOU , AVA ...

We had an ordinary room reserved, and arrived at about 10 AM (off of a boat from Turkey). Of course the room was not ready, but the staff was very gracious, took the luggage and stored it, and started us on our touring with maps and a cool drink. When we returned in mid-afternoon we were told that they had a cancellation for one of their nicest rooms with a wonderful balcony, and would we like it for 25 Euros a night extra. Of course. It was truly lovely. It was a two-room suite with a large balcony across both rooms. The hotel is perfectly located, and with the doors to the balcony open there was lots of noise, but the doors are triple-glazed and with them closed you couldn't hear a thing. One morning a jackhammer started up outside the hotel at 7:50 AM, and the sound was so minimal my wife slept through it (I was already up). The desk clerk ran outside and stopped them! (Can you imagine that happening in New York?) Everyone was helpful and kind, the staff all spoke perfect English, and they even had a light breakfast ready for us at 5:45AM when we had to leave for the airport. Couldn't have been better.

We stayed 3 nights at the Ava hotel in Athens and couldn't fault it. We arrived at the hotel around 3am and they have a 24hour front desk staff member on duty to welcome you. The rooms were large, ultra clean and sparklingly renovated or new with fabulously comfortable king bed. It was such a welcome after sleeping in little doubles or queen size beds as we found with a lot of the hotels during our stay. The staff over the 3 days were unbelievably lovely. On the second day after a tiring day walking around in the heat we got back to our room to find a complimentary bottle of French sparkling wine on ice in our room. What a lovely gesture.
Breakfast was great value at 12 euros pp. an abundance of choice for a small hotel. The location couldn't get any better with only a very short walk to a tourist hub of cafes and souvineer shops but most importantly a short stroll to the acropolis, Parthenon, temple of Zeus and other major tourist attractions.
The location of the hotel is Perfect because the street leads off the busy tourist paths and is just enough away to be a quiet haven. If you want zero noise and don't care about the view ask for a room overlooking the back area - not particularly attractive but super quiet. We stayed in room 304 which also has a kitchenette.
Tip: use the hotels taxi service to and from airport as it is a set price and won't change if you get stuck in traffic and is cheaper then catching one individually. 40 euros in daytime hours and 55 euros in the wee am hours of the morning.
Would recommend highly and would stay there again. Can't praise the hotel staff enough.

After the rather Spartan digs we stayed in on our cruise, we were very pleased with the large room with a kitchen located in the Plaka, only blocks from the Plaka markets where you can spend your excess time and money. It had a very comfortable bed, and a TV with more channels than the standard BBC you can get in English. Our guide dropped us off, and commented that he had heard from several of his other customers that they had a wonderful room. We wholeheartedly agree. We had not one but two bottles of chilled champagne and chocolate covered nuts waiting for us in our room thanks to an AVA promotion through Facebook and Expedia! We drank one there and the other on our patio in Santorini. Wonderful!
