As per most other reviews we found the AVA to be spacious, clean, comfortable and very close to the tourist sites. Would definately stay there again.

As first-time Athens visitors we found the DISCOVER ATHENS – 400 Bus to be the ideal way of getting our bearings. The bus runs all day from just down the road (turn left when leaving the hotel) and for 5 Euros you can travel in a large loop past most of the tourist sites in Athens. Your ticket can be used on all public transport (except that going to the airport) and is valid for 24 hours. Search on "athens 400 bus" on google for more information.

Terrific Hotel in a great location! Rooms were clean, spacious, and included a kitchenette. The free breakfast was a good start to the day. Staff was helpful and courteous. The Plaka area, where the hotel is located, is great for walking around and shopping. It is about a 30 minute walk to the Acropolis. Daphne's restaurant is only a minute away - fine dining. The book on Athens in each room contains lots of useful information.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the AVA.

This is a fabulous place to stay. Maria, the manager, is a great person. The hotel is located in the heart of “old Athens”. The photographs I submitted show the actual views from Suite 301. I did not have to “lean” over to take the photos. The Acropolis (the Fort view) is right in your face, as is Hadian’s Arch, and the fabulous standing columns of the Temple to Zeus.

The room: exceeded our expectations. Large sitting area, with a small and well stocked kitchenette (sink. Microwave oven, small refrigerator, dishes, etc); a large bathroom (my wife was thrilled with the bathroom, which had a neat shower), and large bedroom. There was also a ‘mini bar’, which we did not partake of. The Ava had a useful guide-book to the city, which was fun to read.

It is rather expensive: I paid 460 Euros for two nights. However, I consider it money well spent. I loved this place, and we plan on going back to Athens, and get a full week at the Ava Hotel.

After a five days stay, we can confirm the latest reviews: that's really a fabulous location. Rooms are large and confortable, and most of the staff are helpfull and kind. A conciergerie improvement would take our overall experience from "above average" to "excellent". Try not to miss: (a) in Plaka ( hotel neighborhood ), the 30 min. night ride, in a small - I don't know how to name it, in English - rubber tires train, that runs inches away from the restaurant tables, through the intense night moviment in the area. Amazing sight seeing tour, for about E$ 5 each; (b) the Parliament House guard changing, on sundays, around 11 a.m.. (c) and, of course, the great greek cuisine, from the greek salad ( as simple as delicious ), to the traditional moussaka.

The previous positive reviews are spot on. AVA's rooms are large, clean and well equipped. The staff are very friendly and informative. The location is superb, at the foot of the Acropolis, yet on a quiet street. Within easy walking distance are all the restaurants and bars of the Plaka and Monastraki, as well as the Metro for the airport and Piraeus, and Syntagma for the bus to Sounion and the tram to Glyfadha. All in all great value for money.

LOVED everything about the hotel! The location was PERFECT...right in the Plaka, steps (literally) away from the Acropolis and metro station, dinner, shopping...so incredibly convenient. We had so little time in Athens that location was extremely important to us. After a transatlantic flight and a 6 hour nap, I was THRILLED that we were so close to everything.
The rooms were so large...NOT what you expect in Europe...i've stayed in many much smaller rooms throughout the continent... The hotel staff was extraordinarily accomodating, didn't let me lift a finger to do anything - they handled everything I asked for and gave me suggestions, etc. (Really unsure what the last post was about...I experienced quite the opposite.) Would absolutely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone. Everything was so clean and I believe somewhat new from the Olympics renovation.
Really a wonderful, wonderful stay.

We loved the AVA Hotel!

We had a beautiful suite with kitchen, marble bath, balcony, and very comfortable king-size bed. In-room amenities included a safe, minibar, coffeemaker, hair dryer, slippers, magazines, and the most thorough Guest Information Packet we'd ever seen.

The location is perfect: walking distance to the Acropolis, Plaka, and metro station, yet on a quiet street for an undisturbed night's sleep.

The breakfast was included, and it was excellent; we loved the eggs, sausage and fresh fruit.

The staff was always cheerful, friendly, and eager to help. They gave us great advice about nearby restaurants.

After this great experience, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
