“Must see”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

One of the oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods in Athens, Plaka, right below the Acropolis. The architecture reminds us of Anafi island, which is why it is called Anafiotika, as its first residents came from this island to Athens.

“Good place to visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2013

I heard about this place from my friends who stay in Athens. It is a tiny neighborhood in Athens. This has scenic beauty and near the Acropolis. It was originally built by the workers. It is just a few steps away from the Acropolis station. The unique concept is that the terrace of one house becomes the roof of another house. There are few small churches here. Evening walk is a good idea as the place has many small bars and restaurants. I really loved this place and can’t come out of its memories. I cherished every moment as the scenic beauty is at its peak. My family loved this place and we took 1000+ snaps in our digital camera. There were wonderful flowers grown in households which had awesome smell and were available in multiple and vibrant colors. I love this place.

Anafiotika is a tiny neighborhood, built originally by builders from the island of Anafi, near Santorini, with their unique way, where the terrace of one house, becomes the roof of the next...This is a unique place in Athens, just a few steps away from the Acropolis station.

“A haven of peace in the shadow of the Parthenon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013

This is a maze of little white-washed houses and small churches, immediately north-east, and on the slopes, of the Parthenon. The Lonely Planet guide-book suggests a route starting with the steps up from Epimenidou. If, like us, you enjoy getting away from the crowds, and sauntering through narrow paths, exploring a hidden gem, so close to the city centre - this is for you. Stonemasons were brought from the island of Anafi to build the king's palace following Greece's independence (1830s), and these were their homes. Savour and enjoy!
