It's well worth taking a 15 minute walk from the acropolis to see this monument. It has an excellent 360' view of Athens. You also see some pretty amazing views of the Parthenon from a distance but slightly above it. After you return down check out Socrates prison. We were told by a worker there that this was first thought to be the sight of the prison discovered in the 19th century but that early in the 20th century the actual prison sight was found in the Agora. Again well worth the walk.

Filopappos Hill is smack next to the Acropolis, but it seems nobody goes there which is a shame. Walk just a little and you'll see the Pnyx, the very spot on earth where democracy was invented. Walk down a side path and see the cave where Socrates was held prisoner and was eventually forced to take his own life. These are amazing sights and they are right there! Go!

You need strong legs to walk up to the top but the view 360degree is worth the climb as it has amazing views of Athens and if you can wait to watch the sun sets, it is definitely different from a seaview sunset.

From the exit of acropolis ( citysighseeing bus stop) go up there. Don't use google maps. Google point you the other side.
Go all the way to the top. You will get nice pix!
But go down before getting dark. It's kidda scary without light

This hill, is not just a hill. Its gateway to the top of the city of Athens. Its leads to socrates prison, a gorgeous monument on top and is just huge!!! If you don't visits this during your trip to Athens then you didn't truly see Athens' beauty.
