“Must see even for the view”
Reviewed April 18, 2014 via mobile

Do not miss to visit Filoppapou hill when visiting Acropolis. Try to notice the deeply elegant architectural work of the path leading you there, realized by Dimitris Pikionis a great architect. The views are breathtaking. Try to visit early in the morning to get the best out of it!

“Best front view of the Acropolis”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

Very nice spot for viewing the Acropolis from (almost) the front side. Great for taking photographs of it. Best visited shortly before sunset. Best light and also very nice view of the sun setting over the bay of Athens...

“A Great View and More!”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

The area of Fillopappos Hill had awesome sunset views of the Acropolis. It also is an area filled with it's own history and historic road and ruins. I felt as though I were in a great city park and an archeological museum at the same time. Locals were having their place among the tourists. It was a peaceful and beautiful walk!

“We would have missed this, were it not for the ferry boat strike!”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

Our last day in Athens, Greece was "April Fool's Day." Wouldn't you know it, our planned day trip to Aegina Island was cancelled due to a Ferry Boat Strike, so we spent an entire day doing various activities that we would probably have missed otherwise --- this is one of them.

The "Hill" is not really much, compared to Lycavittos or even the Acropolis. Still, it provides commanding views of the entire city of Athens and the nearby port of Pireaus.

There are plenty of interesting archeological sites on this hill to gather anyone's casual interest, and the hill was lovely in the springtime, when the flowers are in bloom!

We got some fantastic photos on this hilltop excursion. Best of all, its FREE.

So, if your ferry boat goes on strike--- don't cry in your Ouzo, or drown in Souvlaki Pitas in your sorry -- take a hike! (To Filopappos Hill)

“My favourite place in Athens!”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

This was the absolute highlight of my trip to Athens!! The view from the top of the hill is utterly incredible and it offers the best possible view of the Acropolis. It is a bit of a climb but not as steep as the Acropolis and much quieter as fewer tourists tend to venture up there. I really would recommend this anyone, especially if you want a great, eye-level view of the Acropolis, this really cannot be beaten! It has to be seen to be believed! We found a small outcrop of rock which gave a better view of the Acropolis than the actual top of the hill by the monument - as you reach the top and turn right to approach the monument, there is a small path to your left, if you follow it for about 50 metres you come to the small outcrop of rock where we sat for an hour just soaking in the the amazing vista. There are no facilities up there so be sure to take a bottle of water with you - and some sunscreen on a hot day!
