We went to the Filopappos hill on our first day, before even visiting Acropolis. It turned out to be a great idea. The place is quite empty in November so you can just walk around without seeing a single tourist. The park is beautiful and it really has the best view on the Acropolis. Don't miss it.

you can visit Acropoli from normal entrance, and you can enjoy it from near & amazed with its massiveness.... but if you prefer to look it in front of you, in a more beautiful view, to hike to this hill and see Acropoli from another view... I & my wife hike (took about an hour slowly walk) this hill in the afternoon expecting arrived the top before sunset (I'm a photo enthusiast), and yes the view from top is beautiful... I made some photo from this spot but we didn't dare to stayed there until sunset just follow the robbery alert... highly recommended !

nice view of Athens and expecially Acropolis. Best time is to go in the late afternoon just before sunset. You get an understanding what Acropolis meant in the old days

Philopappos was a Roman prefect that wanted to be burried across the Acropolis, thus the name. Nevertheless this hill offers excellent view. From One side Piraeus, and fron the others center of Athens, Western part and Panathinaikon stadium, the stadium where the olympics of 1896 took place.
