The top of Filopappos Hill is a worthwhile jaunt - there is a spectacular view, well marked trails and a sense of being able to step back in time to see the Parthenon from afar as it migh thave been for ancients!

For just a short, 15 min. "hike" up the hill, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of not only the Acropolis, but he city itself. The walk up is beautiful in its own right, and you can truly get a sense of what an ancient Athenian would have experienced on his daily stroll. Once atop the hill, sit and soak in the city and snap some amazing photographs of the city skyline.

I can never work out the best path to start on, so take your pick, they all end up at the top. Lots of dog walkers, locals and tourists, and lightly wooded ascent so quite cool in the heat. once at the top you can get great shots of Acropolis/Parthenon on the opposite hill. Come down a different way, take in the cave and the nice seating area, before you go back to the bustle. Don't forget a bottle of water as there are no kiosks on the hill.

A few minutes from Monastiraki and Acropolis, Fillopappos Hill is worth visiting, not only for the excellent view from up there, but also for the unique way to climb the hill, walking just as ancient Athenians used to do.

It is located next to the Acropolis. If you are not planning to go the ACropolis the view from here is familiar where you can see the city of Athens from above.
