I've just come back from a weekend in Athens, staying at the Fresh hotel near Monastiraki.
I tend to visit Athens every year around this time and have stayed in a few different hotels in and around the city centre, within walking distance to the main attractions. Fresh hotel is located about 5-10 mins walk from the main square and the metro station at Monastiraki, with a direct train to the airport, as well as numerous restaurants, tavernas, shops in Monastiraki, Psirri, and a little further away in Plaka.
The service during my stay was excellent! Very friendly and efficient and the staff in the restaurant attentive during breakfast. The breakfast was probably my favourite part of the day. The selection of items was extensive, including lots of Greek dishes and items (I recommend the bougatsa!), as well as the continental breakfast items, e.g. eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, plus smoked salmon.
I was allocated a room on the 5th floor and it was clean and comfortable. I slept well both nights. The bathroom was fine. Toiletries by Greek brand Korres are provided. The shower was powerful and temperature easy to adjust and maintain.
It is worth mentioning that during my stay there was work being undertaken in the hotel, I think it was on the 2 and 3rd floors so there was the occasional bit of noise. Personally, it didn't bother me. This is the only reason I gave this hotel 4 "stars" instead of 5.
I would stay here again.
