“You can't lose”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

We bookended our trip to Greece with stays at Sweet Home Hotel. The location is great. Not on an attractive street, but close to sights and transportation. The first night our room was SMALL. Pretty much a bed and an armoire. It was immaculately clean, but very cramped (at least by my admittedly American standards). Breakfast was fine. Hot water was plentiful. Staff was professional though not exactly warm or friendly. We didn't want to spend a ton of money, and we were satisfied with what we got.
When we returned a week later for our second visit the hotel upgraded us and we found ourselves in a beautiful room. Very spacious and elegant. On this visit the front desk staff was much friendlier and more helpful. We felt that we got more than we paid for.
All in all, Sweet Home Hotel is a terrific option for travelers staying in Athens. It's pretty, quiet, and conveniently located. At worst, you get a clean room at a good price. At best, a beautiful room at a great price. Either way, you win.

I loved this hotel and would definitely come again. I stayed in the superior double room, it was spacious, the bed was large and comfy with big fluffy pillows, there was a couch, a fridge, a kettle, a small desk. The place is very new, which is nice. The bathroom is big and the shower has good water pressure. The toiletries are nice, too, great-smelling soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is good, just a few blocks from the Syntagma metro station, you can walk to the Plaka and the Acropolis. The wifi was a little shaky, but that was the only quibble.

Just returned from Athens, where we've spent 5 days. We are lucky to have chosen Sweet Home, because it really felt like a home away from home. The owner, Afroditi is a warm and kind lady who really makes you feel like a guest in her own house. She is always willing to help you with an advice or information regarding Athens and its surrounding. The location of the hotel is also very, very good, because one can easily walk to almost every important attraction. This is very convenient when you're coming back from a whole-day walk in the sun. It takes 2 minutes walk to Syntagma square where you can find metro, bus and tram stations. We opted to go to the seaside one day and took a tram which operates every 15 minutes from Syntagma.
Beside the location, the other very important thing about Sweet Home is its cleanliness, which can compete with some much bigger and more expensive hotel chains. Everything is new, tastefully decorated and amazingly clean. Like many other reviewers mentioned, the bedlinen and towels are spotlessly clean and changed daily. The dining room has such a great atmosphere with its bright colours and lots of sunshine in the morning, which really jump starts your day in this vibrant city. The breakfast is also very good and various, with great homemade pies and cakes.
We stayed in an economy room and although it is not big, the size really didn't bother us, because it was clean, quiet and cozy. For those ones who prefer bigger rooms, a superior room would be an excellent option.
We really look forward to coming back to Athens in the future and would definitely choose Sweet Home again!

A very nice room with basically everything you look for while aboard, namely... a warm bed, friendly lobby staff, strong Wifi, not so bad breakfast, completed ammenity, plus, a very good room rate & great location at the heart of Plaka. No need to buy a metro ticket as we found out. We started a day with a nearby walk to Acropolis, had a late lunch around Acropolis foothill then walked back to a hotel in late afternoon. There's still enough time to enjoy a local wine at a restaurant next door, then got in bed for a while to recover, and went out shopping with no hurry, knowing that good restaurants around here will be opened for us & Athenian to dine out even at midnight.

Stayed in an interconnecting room with grown up kids & it was perfect set up for us during our 3 day visit to Athens. Walking distance to Akropolis, Plaka and Syntagma. Staff very friendly & helpful, ask them for recommendations on where to eat- you wont be disappointed.
Rooms are beautifully decorated with authentic Greek finishing touches; breakfast room is delightful as is the breakfast.
I could not find a speck of dust or dirt- rooms were impeccably clean. It really is a home away from home.

Room Tip: If you prefer small, personal boutique style accommodation where staff really make the effort to ma...

I choose this hotel based on Tripadvisor comments for a family trip and didn't regret. It is in the best Athens neighborhood for tourism: between Syntagma and the Akropolis, on the Plaka quarter, so you can easily reach everyone by short walk. The hotel is an ancient building fully refurbished to be used as an hotel but still keeping some of the old flavour: old wooden floors and stairs. The service was great, the rooms very clean and new, with nice design although the space was pretty tight, but enough when you are out of the room for visits most of the day. Only one drawback: the lift starts on the first floor, so the first stair from the floor level to the reception on the first floor has to be made walking, then better take light luggages.
