A cosy and friendly place at a quiet street in Plaka. The staff is very friendly and the food is good, Greek food. Nice atmosphere, affordable and they have live music in the evenings.

We went here twice for dinner during our trip to Athens. The food and wine were very good and reasonably priced. The second time we went they had live music which we enjoyed. If I go back to Athens I will definitely eat here again.

We were staying in Athens in November 2013 and were so lucky to find this amazing restaurant situated at the bottom of Acropolis, so beside the food we enjoyed a nice view as well, along with traditional Greek music performed by very friendly local artists.
Service was excellent, it felt like home for us. It's very convenient for families with children (outside seating). We ate here every day for 6 days and never had any complaints. Each time we got complimentary desert. Our kids especially liked tomato soup and fried potatoes :-)
We hope to visit Athens again and enjoy this restaurant, it's service and atmosphere!

Thank you!

In Athens for the first time in late August of 2013 with my 22 year old son, Mike, we stumbled upon the “Cave” on our way up to the Acropolis. We were taking the route through the heart of the “Plaka” which, by the way, is a slightly more difficult trek. We decided to return for dinner that same night and it was such an extraordinary experience that we kept going back. The food was authentic Greek (whole grilled fish is a MUST) and very well prepared. But what makes the restaurant so special is that it seemed as if we had stepped into a world where time had stopped. The diners were all doing what Greeks do at meal time: making the event a moment in time when life stops and enjoy the company of friends and family. At a table near the entrance sat a group of musicians who were playing Greek music and singing songs that wanted to make you get up and dance. They were not professionals, just Greeks, making music for the joy of making music. While we sat at our table looking up at the Acropolis and taking it all in, it was easy to think: “this is where the Goddess Athena hosted dinner parties 3000 years ago.”

Objectively, this wasn't the best meal we had had in Athens, but it was certainly the best atmosphere and service. It's not the easiest place to find if you are coming from the 'restaurant row" especially at night as it seems like you're heading into the dark abyss below that acropolis hill, but push on, when you get there it's lovely and inviting. As it was raining, we sat inside, but it looked to have a nice patio as well as the cozy diningroom. FYI, if you order a Mythos- they bring you the big bottle. Overall, we were quite satisfied with our dining experience.
