Good to walk around the Plaka area, there are restaurants, shops.

My daughter bought a few leather bags, quality is good, inexpensive and not counterfeit products.

I bought some home decorations and bracelets in Greek styles. They can tailor-made your favorite colors for you. :-)

I was disappointed with the Plaka. Yes, the different styles of homes were interesting and there were a good share of good restaurants. What ruined the Plaka for me were all the male hustlers trying to redirect you to prostitutes. I was walking around by myself so try to go in a group. They'll approach you with a smiling facing, speaking English, and asking you where you are from or what time it is.

Plaka is a wonderful area to walk around in. Lots of shops, small stalls and local boutiques to get souvenirs, jewelry etc. Also cannot forget great restaurants!

Every great city has that special neighborhood/s with a buzzing nightlife and infectious atmosphere. Plaka is famously Athens' answer to this. The alfresco dining and numerous performers ensure a fantastic night out with great food.

However, by day, Plaka has sadly become a breeding crowd for tacky souvenir shops... one big tourist trap. My advice? Avoid like the plague until the sun goes down... then join in the nightly festivities on a balmy summer evening.
