“Loved Walking the Plaka”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

Our hotel (Athens Gate) was near the Plaka so we almost always ended our day by walking back through this way. It was a sign we were almost back, and we loved seeing the cafes setting up for dinner. The shops had all the souvenirs you could want. The buildings were beautiful. It was the most beautiful neighborhood we saw while there, and I'm so deeply glad our hotel was in the area so we didn't have to just make this a destination but a daily part of our trip.

“Like being on a Greek island”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

It was like being transported to Rhodes or Kos, small streets filled with colourful houses, shops and restaurants. If you go up from the Agora you will pass the Tower of the Winds which is worth a look, and there is a toilet there!

“FLAVOR OF THE BELL EPOQUE AT THE FOOT OF ACROPOLIS”

Although is not the type of places that I particularly like, I believe that Plaka is a MUST especially for Greece's first or new comers.

“Loved the area”

Love the conversion to a pedestrian mall. Great for people watching, food vendors, and outdoor musicians. Always seemed to come back to the life in this area.

“Shabby for such a popular area”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

I know the economy is bad in Greece, but can't they somehow have some civic pride and clean up (and quit writing) the graffiti? It all looks so shabby.
