I have stayed in hotels superior to the George but they tended to be vastly more expensive. I have stayed in hotels where the beds lie as close to heaven as is possible to contemplate, where the bathroom would double as an exotic water theme park and the food is so mouth-wateringly delicious that gluttony is the only sensible course. It merely appears to me that, in the overall scheme of things, the George just provides all these, perhaps while not scaling the same Olympian heights at a very, very much more reasonable price. Breakfast, on the 7th floor with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis is especially recommended. I always feel very comfortable whenever I stay there and strongly advise others to do so

We came to Athens in early June. We took the local bus to Syntagma square from the airport. It was the last stop on the bus. We reached the hotel. The lobby was pretty small but we went up to our rooms. We got free Internet because we were Starwood members, and there was excellent service. The hotel was newly remodeled too. They had many different tv stations and the staff helped make an itinerary to see all of athens and delphi in two days!

We stayed twice in a week, and were welcomed back warmly.

Staff are superbly trained and able to accommodate all customary requests. Front desk staff are highly professional and on a par with the best anywhere.

Rooms overlooking Syntagma Square and the Acropolis are well worth the premium.

Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful, as is every meal at Tudor Hall.

Overall, highly recommended and sparkles far more than the old lady next door - Grande Bretagne.

We recently (JUL 22-23) stayed at the King George prior to a cruise on the Regent Mariner. It's actually an annex of the larger Grand Bretange and was originally a separate hotel. The hotel is exceptionally clean with a great rooftop restaurant with views of the Acropolis and Parliament Square. The room we had was small but adequate and again, very clean. The shower is one of the European style with only half a shower enclosure. The A/C was very good. The check in and check out was prompt, efficient, and courteous. The included breakfast was excellent and the wait staff was prompt and efficient. I can find nothing derogatory to say about this hotel and would consider staying there in the future.

We stayed in the King George Palace our last night in Greece. We had arrived in Greece with an itinerary that included Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini. Our first few days were spent in Athens where we stayed in a hotel that my nanny had suggested (she lives in Greece over the summer). It was not quite what we had in mind and we decided when we arrived back in Athens from Santorini we would stay in a more upscale hotel. We were not disappointed. It was elegantly appointed, had all the modern conveniences we were looking for, comfortable bedding, I think even heated floors in the bathroom if I am not mistaken. This is definitely where we would stay again when visiting Athens! I marked that we stayed here in Sept of 2012 because that was the latest option but really it was quite some time ago.
