Adonis Hotel
Ranked #120 of 282 Hotels in Athens
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This hotel is nicely located close to all of the main attractions in Athens. You can walk to the Acropolis in about 15 minutes (assuming you have a map and know where you're going). Lots of great restaurants nearby for all price points, so there's something for everyone.

If you're considering this hotel for a family, this might not be ideal. Let me emphasize-- the rooms are tiny. For a couple or even for a couple with one child, this might be okay. But we have two young kids, and it was not a very good fit for us. We were quite cramped in our room. The breakfast is ok- they didn't have any fresh fruit, but you can buy your own nearby if you like. Another bummer- you can't leave your a/c running while you're gone. They ask to have your keys when you leave, and attached to the keys is a key that shuts off your electricity when you remove it from a slot in the room. This is pretty common in a lot of hotels now, but you can usually leave the key for the slot in your room when you leave other hotels. This one doesn't allow that. So, you just have to deal with a super hot room for the 30 or 40 minute it will take to cool down once you're back in your room with the electricity on.

The view from the upstairs bar / breakfast area is superb. It's a perfect shot of the Parthenon. They also have two guest rooms that have a nice view of the Parthenon.

If we'd have stayed here before kids, this place would have been a great fit for us. But, the walls are thin, and everyone will hear if your kid wakes up crying in middle of the night. If you're planning to be gone all day long and only really need a place to sleep between sightseeing, this is a great place. But if you'd like a place with ambiance and charm, this is not the place for you.

AFTER 35 YEARS IN HOTELS ........people are really changing........

..when a customer is blaming and bad rating an hotel about thin walls and noises.......did he realize that no walls will keep noises if the same customer is making noise????? .
unfortunately this is the situation now days....no respect for people sleeping next door.........
WHAT AN HOTEL MANAGER AND HIS STAFF CAN DO ABOUT THAT?????
The hotel Adonis is situated in a pedestrian street ...no cars around...in one of the most quite and safe areas of Athens.....if there are noises ...these are coming from customers behavior.....
And how about the A/C running all day...........DO WE HAVE ANY EDUCATION OR NOT....what are all these articles about ecology and our poor planet ....SHOULD WE ALL SAVE ENERGY OR NOT....that s why we turn off our a/c when rooms are without the customers inside....
... ANYBODY LEAVES HOME WITH HIS A/C ON...????
but the hotels have to deal with that....
anybody really thought about our low room prices???costs e.t.c.
We all here at the Adonis hotel to satisfy our clients...and we work hard for that....
some of them are disappointing us.........we ll live with that
thank you for the space...Spyros Dervos

This little hotel is in a fantastic central location close to the Acropolis. It offers excellent value for its location!

The room was small, very clean and well furnished.

The staff were very polite and helpful.

Nothing fancy but great location and great value - would definitely stay here if in Athens again in the future!

A great location for Athens, close to all the attractions and in a quiet side street. Easy walking distance to the Plaka and all attractions. Helpful staff and rooftop terrace has amazing views to the Acropolis as you eat breakfast. Rooms are a bit dated but are still good value. Recommended, would stay here again.

It is a good option for a short stay, with fantastic views of the Acropolis from the terrace, and the most helpful staff I have ever met. Room is basic but clean, and the location is perfect as you are walking distance from the main places, shops, bars, etc...and metro and bus stations. To improve: breakfast was too basic. But overall totally recommended. I was in July 2013 and again came back in August 2013

Stayed here in 2011, and we were just as thrilled during this return trip to Athens. The Adonis has the classy and romantic ambiance of a bygone area. . . it's as though you have stepped into the Europe of the 1920s or 30s. (Do not stay here if you are looking for big or brash.)

The location on a quiet street just minutes from Plaka is a perfect base from which to explore Athens. Moreover, not only is the Acropolis just a short walk from the hotel, but the hotel's roof top terrace provides a stunning panoramic view of the Acropolis which you can marvel at every morning while enjoying your coffee (and complimentary and delicious buffet breakfast).

The staff here are fantastically kind and helpful. If you are lucky enough to come here while George is working, you will know that the Greek gods have truly smiled upon you. George is a kind of magician -- for he will answer any question, solve any problem, and handle virtually any request in record time, both graciously and expeditiously.

The rooms are cozy; showers hot; and, after paying for your accommodations, you will still have enough euros left to go around the corner to one of the suggested restaurants for a home cooked Greek feast.

Highly recommended! We will return without hesitation.

We have been to Athens multiple times in the past few years and always return here, where each experience excels in every aspect. The roof top terrace boasts an unparalled view of the Acropolis mornings for breakfast and evenings for cocktails. The central location minutes from Plaka is unbeatable for access to all of Athens whether by taxi, metro or on foot. If you have come to Athens to see the Acropolis, you will be delighted that it is just a short walk from the hotel. Staff are personable and exceedingly helpful and responsive to requests, whether you need restaurant recommendations, contact with your hotel in the islands, or transportation to the airport. Yiannis is the epitome of hospitality and he will bend over backwards to ensure your complete satisfaction during your stay. For budget-minded travellers, this hotel is a gem!
