The localization in Plaka is very good!!! But the hotel is bad. It's clean at least... But the breakfast is a joke. Me and my friend came to the breakfast 1 hour after its finish and the waiters didn't replace more food and drinks. Everything was endining, and some foods finished.
Ah, the shower.... awful..... and our bathroom had a bad smell.

Stayed here for two nights. Conveniently located in the Plaka district, on a quiet pedestrian-only side street. Ideal location for walking to all the main attractions: Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, Syntagma Square, the Metro. Although the decor is very basic, the hotel is very clean, good hot showers, although our room had a tiny bathroom. There is a reasonably varied breakfast, cereal, fruit, ham, cheese and a fabulous view of the Acropolis, floodlit at night, from the rooftop bar. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Good value in a great location.

After carefully researching and reading lots of reviews this hotel was excellent. In a quiet location in the Plaka, easy walking distance from the bus/train at Syntagma Square. All staff were friendly and helpful. The basic breakfast exceeded my expectations with a wonderful way to start the day on the fifth floor looking at The Acropolis. To activate the air conditioning you need to ask as it was controlled by the reception staff - it was very quiet and set at a comfortable temperature. We stayed on the third floor which had a large balcony which looked directly across into the opposite hotel's rooms.

Room Tip: Fourth floor rooms would have the best views yet despite booking six months in advance they wouldn...

This hotel is a great value and quality for your money. Jannis and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding us to places we wanted to visit, and making certain we were always comfortable. Great breakfast on the 5th floor with Acropolis view is included. Rooms are comfortable and spotless. Adonis is situated on a quiet street with no vehicle traffic. Excellent location near Syntagma ( with bus & metro stops and the parliament buildings with changing of the guards), the Agora, Plaka for shopping and restaurants, and the Acropolis and Museum. There are little vegetable and fruit markets, cafes and a health food store and pharmacy nearby. They have a reliable taxi source day or night! Good WIFI. We would love to return to this great hotel and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: The 4th floor has great view of Acropolis and there is an elevator.

This is a great budget hotel located in a traffic free [a very useful thing in Athens!] street in the Plaka area. You will find yourself within walking distance of all the sights and just around the corner from Plaka's vibrate restaurants and shops.
The hotel..... the rooms are a good size for a budget hotel with a small bathroom, fab shower and hot water any time we needed it. It is clean, really clean, our bed linen was changed every day as were the towels, you don't get that in a lot of upmarket hotels. Best of all was the balcony, with chairs a table and a shady canopy.
Breakfast was adequate but could maybe do with being re-thought judging by the amount of cake and biscuits etc left each day. The view is breathtaking.
Top tip..... ask for a room if possible at the end of the corridor away from the stairs. On some nights there are late arrivals and for some inexplicable reason feel they can continue their conversation at full pitch with little respect to guests who are trying to sleep after a hard day sightseeing.
If you are travelling to Athens and don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel which happens to be on on a very busy road, then stay here.

I have stayed too many times to recall but each stay is fabulous. Adonis is a small, cosy and hospitable hotel. More precisely, one feels like part of the family at this place. It is beautifully maintained with nothing but comfort for the guest in mind. The hospitality is second to none. Rooms are satisfactory in their amenities; talking beds are moot, everyone has a different preference, suffice to say, they are adequate for a long or short stay. In addition, rooms are spotless: the friendliest, most knowledgeable folks run the place, and they do not miss a beat in providing the ultimate relaxation experience. I could not have been more pleased with the service, the organization and the friendliness of staff, as well as the condition of the property. The entire staff is extremely courteous and are there for me whenever needed.

One of the best things for me at Adonis Hotel is grabbing a cup of coffee in the morning and gazing at Acropolis as the rest of the world wakes up. It really does not get any better than this. Why would you want to leave? A great hotel to stay at with some exceptional service from everyone involved. It is obvious trying to maintain a luxury level service profile in a small family hotel is a challenge at best and often unforgiving at worst. Immediately apparent is the service culture management has developed. Witnessing client confrontations I am pleased at how professionally the staff took ownership of the issue(s) at hand, doing whatever necessary to bring resolution. That alone can make unfortunate and disappointing things become smaller in their relative importance, which is what a holiday should be, a time to relax and let small things slide.

All in all: Excellence is a pleasant surprise and a wonderful holiday. Don't let negative reviews rob you of a well executed holiday at this well run hotel. Remember, a well run hotel is measured on how invisible the staff are, yet everything is still done with courteous efficiency. If you visit Athens and plan to spend a few nights and do not give this place a chance, then you have truly missed something special! Hence, I would highly recommend this hotel. I have had a wonderful time and will definitely stay there again when I come back to the area.

Thanks to all of you at Adonis Hotel!

PS: Adonis is not just an outstanding hotel, but a way of life in the centre of one of the most wonderful cities i.e. Athens in the world!

Situated in Plaka - great area for tourists. Close to train and outdoor eateries. Walk around this area safely. This hotel is in a street not used by cars so it is quiet.
Rooms are clean and and breakfast is adequate.
Staff VERY helpful.
Views of the Acropolis from the open-air breakfast room.
