On visits I saw thefts every time I visited this place. If the theives wish totarget you they are VERY experienced. Magicians! This time my passport was stolen! It ruined my visit. Blatantly I caught a woman with both hands in my bag doing her filing! It is VERY dangerous. I met a Dutch couple with two kids robbed my the same 'gang' later same day. Go out with anything valuable in you pants. They can open a comination lock in seconds!

Literary it's a colorful place, it's a point of interest for both tourists and locals. It's very crowded due to the nearby flea market and metro station. It's also dirty and the building around it are full with awful "graffitis".

The area around the square, as well as the square itself, is hopping. There is plenty to see and do and eat. Take a walk through and check it out.

Monastiraki Square is a busy area with a train station, many street vendors, and many streets branching out to restaurants, shops, ice cream/ gelato stores. Ver nice and central place to stay near and have everything you need.
