I absolutely loved my experience at Dioskouros Hotel! It is simple, but with a great location and price. The area is very safe and many of the major historic sites are at a 5-10 min walk. The metro station is close by, too. The hostel wasn't very busy when we visited it, so it was nice and quiet. Our room was clean, and so was the bathroom. The breakfast was yummy. I liked the fact that even though the breakfast was offered from 7:30 to 8:30 am, they wouldn't put the food and the coffee away until much later (great for the people who like to sleep in). The staff was friendly and helpful. I was with my sister who hadn't stayed at a hostel before, so I am glad that she had great first experience. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Room Tip: The single bed rooms were bigger than the double bed ones. Ask the staff to turn the AC on for you...

The location is fantastic and price wise it is a good deal, especially for summer! We were disappointed with the breakfast, milk was watered down and bread with some preserves were offered not worth €5pp.

The Dioskouros is totally worth a stay just for location alone. It is around the corner from the Akropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Given it's fantastic location in the Plaka, it is pretty affordable. I will stay almost anywhere for a good price and did not expect it to be as clean, accommodating, and close to archaeological sites and transportation as it was. I booked several nights, left and spent a week on an island, came back without a reservation and was able to get an even nicer room upstairs than one that I had previously. I highly recommend this hostel for anyone who is on a budget and needs a place to sleep after exploring Athens all day.

Room Tip: Private rooms upstairs seemed nicer than those downstairs

A great location, you can walk to any of the ancient sites. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was good. Nice to have a sink. Disappointing we could not control the air con ourselves and had to ask the staff to turn it on. Toilets and bathrooms are basic but are clean. A yum free breaky. We would recommend this place to friends and family.

Very helpful and friendly English-speaking staff. The location was perfect, within walking distance of most tourist sites. Price range was perfect for what was included, especially if you're on a budget.

This hostel is in a great location for a couple of nights in Athens as it is close to all major sights and to great restaurant and shopping districts. The staff are also friendly and good at recommending places to go and they have a nice social area where they provide a good breakfast that is included in the price.

However, it is not what is advertised. The pictures here are fairly misleading, and there was nowhere to safely store valuables as advertised, which turned out to be a big problem as we did not want to bring our valuables out with us after being pickpocketed on the metro (a bad problem in Athens). The sheets were stained, the showers were not functional and not clean, the toilets were ok, but most of the time were missing soap or toilet roll. They also charge 2 euros to store luggage on the last day, which, while it is not a lot of money, we thought was a bit silly.

While we had a good time in Athens because of the location, we did have a lot of problems with the practicalities of the hostel.

Really lovely staff who are willing to help and advise on how best to explore Athens! Also a fantastic location! However, we were disappointed with a number of things. There were no safety deposits or lockers as stated on their websites, not great considering Athens isn't the safest of cities. Nor was the lock on our door working! We had to pay 2 euros for them to store our luggage after checkout, which is cheeky! The toilets often lacked soap, toilet paper or locks. The showers were cold, dirty and hand held. And the drain in one of the toilets flooded. However, for a few nights it was perfectly fine and we had a fab time! Just don't expect the perfect hostel!
