“Best view on bed”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

I dont have anything bad to say this hotel. Location is perfect. No need to drag your bag long way from metro. Its very near for shopping area. Room was very big. For us whom has get used to softer bed with mattress pad first bed feels little hard. We was on fifth floor and from bed was awesome view to Acropolis. Noicy street did not bother us. Bathroom was big enough and very clean. You can enjoy good breakfast top of the hotel with awesome view above Athens. Hotel staff was very polite and helpful. For us those handsome greek men at hotel was very plesant plesure. I highly recomend this hotel for everybody and im sure we will stay there again.

This hotel was exactly what we were looking for in Athens. The only negative comment we have is that they charge for Internet Access. Some reviewers mentioned that the hotel is 'dated'. The hotel is dated, but is very clean and 'dated' in a classy, nostalgic kind of way. The rooms are carpeted but clean. The hotel room furniture was simple but in good condition and, most importantly, clean. Our bathroom was modern, clean and worked perfectly well. The view of the Acropolis was
great. Breakfast was average for Greece. (Get there early! They run out of food!)
The beds were VERY comfortable. We slept beautifully!
The reception staff were all amazing. Each and every one of them!
Location is perfect for tourists, but be aware that the Taxi drivers will cheat you! If you can walk-you should walk! If you take the taxi waiting in front of the hotel they charge an extra 3 Euro. Ask the reception how much your ride should cost and negotiate a flat rate with the driver. (one driver had a button on his meter that he pushed everytime he switched gears. It bumped up the price on the meter to 3 Euros more than it should have been!)
Also, this hotel is right near the Metro and an easy commute to and from the airport. HOWEVER, BE AWARE of pickpocketers on the Metros! They crowded us as we were trying to get off the Metro and had their hands in my husband's pockets. Wear a money belt at all times, use the lock boxes at the hotel, and do not keep valuables, passports or large amounts of money in your pockets or purses. A couple that rode with us on the Metro were robbed as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Acropolis.

My family and I stayed here in July 2012. The front desk people were very nice and helpful. The location is great that there are many restaurants accessible by foot or access to the metro is very convenient. Breakfast was very good and located on the top floor with a gorgeous view of the Acropolis. This was my first visit to Athens and staying here made the stay very pleasant. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked well. The Hotel is not flashy but everything is nice.

Room Tip: high floor the better

The hotel has an excellent location - few steps from Syntagma square, the very center of the city and at walking distance from all the main attractions. Rooms are clean and the bathroom is large. Apart from this, the hotel does not offer anything more. Ordinary breakfast, old and loud air conditioning - but a nice view of the Acropolis from the restaurant on the 10th floor.

The outstanding feature of the Astor is the stunning view of the Acropolis and Parthenon, more so at night when both are floodlit. Running a close second is the location of the hotel, just off Syntagma Square for easy Metro transport links, one street away from Ermou, the pedestrian zone main shopping area, and as would follow, access to the Plaka.

The main restaurant is soulless at dinner time, (but does have some vibe for breakfast). The wheelchair access is very makeshift and downright dangerous for those leaving the lift.

Room Tip: *th floor or above

I stayed for a second time in this hotel with my family for 6 nights in July 2012.The location is perfect in the very centre of Athens, the rooms are clean and spacious enough though not actually luxurious(the price you pay is absolutely logical),the breakfast is good and combined with the the near view of Acropolis is big plus for the hotel.
The staff is friendly, kind and helpful.

Perfectly located in Syntagma Square area, blocks away from Plaka. Syntagma is the best area to stay in Athens compared to Omonia, which I don't recommend.
Rooms and breakfast room and terrace overlooking the Acropolis. Excellent variety for breakfast. Wi-fi in the room. 1 block from main pedestrian street, near shops and restaurants.
Polite staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Acropolis.
