“A Little piece of India in the heart of Athens...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Being on a 4 day trip to Athens to see the "acropolis museum", me and my younger brother, we thought to try an indian restaurant cause we love the food and have tried it many times in our trips to Asia.
We looked on the trip advisor and "Indian Kitchen" came up first and very easy to find because of its location near the "Syntagma Square"….We called to make sure they are open for lunch and the lady picking up the phone even booked us a table (great !!)....Arriving there we never thought that we would have such a great taste experience….We ordered nan bread (light, baked in tandor) and vegetable samosa (lightly spiced) first, and then a chicken "malai tikka", (chicken cubes marinated in creamy cheesy cashews paste) flavoured with herbs, and a "vindallo beef" (fiery red goan beef curry with potatoes)…..
It was the best indian food experience we had outside Asia with the most perfect service….If in Athens again, the "indian Kitchen" restaurant will be our first choice. Will recomment it to friends and colleagues aswell…...

“Great treat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

Read the reviews on tripadvisor before we left for Athens (we live on Crete). We were just wondering around the city when we passed the Indian Kitchen and it was lunch time so we decided to try it out. We love greek food however we never pass up the chance to try something else. Good choice! Lovely menu with many (and I mean many) choices with very reasonable prices and portions. We will go here again and look forward to it.

“Very good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

This was our first visit. We had the chicken korma, beef vindaloo, naan, roti, chaat and the cucumber raita. All were very good. The service was fine and the prices fair. Will go again.

“Mild but Descent”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

Nice little restaurant donwtown Athens. Interior was indiffernet, but at least it was clean and free from the usual "Indian Kitsch" overload. Kitchen is working until quite late so even if we walked in after midnight on a Saturday evening, we were gladly served. Alas! Restaurant was 90% full at the time (well it only has about 8-10 tables but most where full) and it took the very polite staff 15min to get our order and 40min to start bringing in food (so almost an hour in total from when we walked in!). Not suprisingly, the food delivered was not exactly what we had ordered, the naans came after the main courses and the drinks were messed up twice. I suppose it was just one of those days for the serving staff which admitedly where both very kind and friendly.

Apart from the moaning, we order a bit of everything. Aloo Chat was splendid. Naan bread was fresh and tender. Raita was just fine. The rices (Puluao, Biriyani & Sweet Puluao) were excellent in all three cases - well cooked, tasty and with the perfect texture which is so hard to find in european restaurants.

The Chicken masala & Chicken Tandoori were pretty good but light on the spices. Chicken Madras was fine. The Beef Vindaloo was certainly not spicy enough for my standard but very very tasty. Strongly recommended as an introduction to indian spice.

Overall to my taste buds all food ordered felt "underspiced" and mild BUT as a "European" version of Indian kitchen, adapted to the Greek customs it is a very good and safe choice.

Although not impressed, It was a decent dinner and will certainly go back for more, probably on a business lunch this time as it is very well located downtown.
