Make sure you ask the loquacious owner to what to order and you won't go wrong. We had the eggplant dip, zucchini fritters, and stuffed cabbage leaves with good house wine. And don't forget the orange cake for dessert!

Although the restaurant was conveniently located in the heart of Athens I would not have found it without the recommendation of a seasoned connoisseur of fine dinning. The food was classic Greek with augmentation of sophisticated presentation and taste. The grilled fish was excellent as was the calamari and prawns. The salad was fresh, large and delicious. The portions were generous and tasty. This is a family friendly restaurant, several family members dined including a baby. Don't miss out on the opportunity to visit Apollonia Lyre.

Food was quite good. Very nice owner/host. It's on a strip/staircase where there are several restaurants, so it can be a bit daunting to choose among them, but I would certainly recommend this one. One minus is that it's cash only - one of my pet peeves (and either not well advertised, or I missed it). Live minus after 10pm (it was a Saturday). Place was empty when we got there around 8pm, but full by 10pm.

We ate here on September 29 at the recommendation of our tour guide. What a great tip! Charming and casual restaurant in the Plaka with an out door inclinced "alley" connecting it to other similar cafes. We were hungry after a full day of walking so order a local white wine and beer, the fish platter for two, and a greek salad. We enjoyed both the wine and beer very much. The salad was huge and very fresh - cucumbers, tomatoes, kalamata olives, onions, and a large slice of herbed feta on top. The fish platter was amazing! All grilled and crispy...large prawns, calamari, octopus, small fish (herring?), and mussel cakes. It was more than enough and absolutely delicious. Make a point to try this restaurant on your visit to Athens.

Many years ago we ate nearly every night at the Eden on Flessous a cheap vegetarian restaurant with brilliant moussaka. We learned that it closed in awhile ago but reopened as Appolonia Lyra. We realized that we had a beer and soda in this cafe two weeks earlier when cruising around the Acropolis and were taken in by the lovely streetscape. Drinks get a bonus "crisps" free. Last evening we returned but after ordering realized it is a tapas bar. There are half a dozen all competing in this little stepped zone where all patrons are just drinking and nibbling tapas. While perfectly good as a tapas for young people it's not a great restaurant better food and value can be elsewhere eg on the corner of Flessous there is a family run place with historical frescos on their walls.
