“A key part of your visit to Syntagma Square and the center of modern Greek Government”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is an essential part of your visit to Syntagma Square and the center of modern Greek Government.
Be there at about 15+ minutes before the hour to see the guards in their classical garb change.
Walk through Syntagma Square and the adjacent National Gardens.

“A lesson in standing still”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

It's nice to see a little bit of tradition in fast paced Athens. Like their counterparts in London, I don't know how the Evzones stay still and silent for their hour long tour.

We saw this and enjoyed the formality and our guide helped us to understand the choosing if the guards. I recommend seeing it

“One of the best”

We saw a little of the changing of the guards during the week from a far, but we made a point to get there around 10:30 to take pictures standing by the guards and then they had the formal Sunday changing of the guards ceremony. Sooo Fabulous!! must see

A walk near the parliament during the afternoon is a nice break after shopping in the city center to watch the soldiers with their traditional customs at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
