This marble stadium is the site of the 1896 Olympics, the first of the modern era. The white marble stadium is quite attractive and impressive. It's also the finish spot for the annual Athens Marathon race.

Came here whilst on a day trip to Athens. We only had a few minutes here so we only managed to have a quick look around the exterior. The information boards were useful and there was a small truck selling souvenirs outside the entrance. Managed to get a few good photographs from outside.
Great visited really interesting and enjoyable. The audio guide was excellent providing great information and giving a sense of what it would have been to complete there. Very reasonably priced only 2.50 e for students. Completely recommend.
We stopped by here to view it. We didn’t pay to go in but quite good views from the outside. Worth visiting.
Athens of course is primarily associated with the Acropolis but I think this pipped it for us! We love all things sport and this engaging, walking tour was excellent. The stadium is spectacular!
Entrance ticket is 5€ with free audio guide. Nothing is separated, you can walk in stadium freely, wherever you want. There is a little interesting museum inside with pleasant climate. It is worth to see once.
