Very interesting to see the original olympic stadium, another impressive structure, well preserved. Not open to the public on a regular basis but you can see all of it from the street/viewing area in front.

We were visiting Athens on a cruise ship and this was the first stop on our day trip (which we booked for €25 when we got off the ship). We didn't pay the €6 to go inside, it was just a quick walk around and photo stop which we were happy with. Nice to see briefly and if you're really interested then go inside. For me, just seeing it was more than enough.

The history is amazing, the marble stands are incredible and its hard to believe just how old the place is when you consider that they held the first Olympics here. You must pay the 3 euros and experience the atmosphere of the stadium - you will love it and get on the track.....

Make sure you go when the sun isn't too hot...and make sure you get the audio guide and follow along. It's not to long of an audio tour and it gives some really cool information. It shouldn't take you more than hour to see this and totally worth it!

If you are into sports and history, this is the place for you.
Newly refurbished to its former glory the stadium looks stunning.
You can climb upto the back seats or walk on the track.
There is also a tunnel at the back to the old changing rooms and further info on the old stadium which was used for the first modern Olympics in 1896. You can even print your own coin as a memento (Euro 2)
You can also take advantage of the free audio tour.
Make sure you take the camera if only for the picture on the Olympic podium at the front of the stadium.
Altogether well worth the visit (Euro 3 pp)
