“Worth a hike for the view”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

Lycabettus is an under-appreciated gem. Hike up there every day to get yourself in fabulous shape. The view is phenomenal - best view in Athens. If you hike up late in the day the path is mostly in the shade. The chruch of St George on top is worth a visit.

“Take the cable car up, walk down :)”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

The cable car runs every half hour. Take the cable up and walk down. The tram/cable car runs inside the mountain - no open views. However when you get on top... the views are stunning! The bar at the top serves amazing fredocinno and great ice cream! Haven't tried the food but in hindsight I think it would have been great - they had quite an extended menu! All staff was pleasant and warm. Tables and chairs trendy and comfortable. Careful if you are travelling with curious children as there are some gaps in the glass panels that surround the bar/restaurant area. The inside seating area is very well air conditioned and it looked very comfortable - much better views from inside! The toilets are quite something! Please don't laugh but I've never seen such interesting bathroom faucets in stead of a simple sink :):):) The church on top is small and lovely and we were lucky to see a baptism and a wedding while we were there :) Absolutely stunning 360 vistas! The road down is mild and paved (there is a winding street and also some stairs through the trees) - we chose the paved way as we had a 2 year old and it was milder to walk. The road took us all the way down - not far from the Opera House and the Megaromousikis metro station ( a bit more of a walk to the metro station) - it took us half an hour walking at leisure. Beautiful day and amazing place!!!

“Beautiful View”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Really nice view of Athens here. Wish we had time though to visit the cathedral and have dinner at the hill top restaurant serviced by cable car. Will certainly make time for that if we ever do get to come back to Athens

“Good viewpoint”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

If you fancy a bit of excerise near the city centre this is the place to go. It is quite a steep pull up the winding path to the summit, but there is a cafe/restaurant with reasonable prices, and a panoramic view while you take that well deserved drink. My guide book and map showed a funicular railway from Aristippou street but I saw no sign of it. By then you are half way up anyway.

“Hiking Mt Lycabettus”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We love physical activities while on vacation so a hike up this mountain sounded fun, and it was. We visited on May 31st, and the hike took about 30 minutes. At the top there's a restaurant and also a vendor selling cold water. The views are beautiful and the hike itself felt moderate. So glad we ventured up.
