“Tiring climb but awesome view”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Worth it to climb the mountain, although the roads were uneven and can be very steep at times. View was simply breathtaking at the end.

“What a view!”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

To get to Lycabettus --take the metro to Evangelismos and head up hill. Eventually, you will enter the park where there are loads of paths--just follow it up until you get to the paved path near the top. The views are spectacular and there is a small church and restaurant if you need to pray and have a drink. Well worth the hike!

“Summit of Athens”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is the highest point within the inner city, with absolutely superb views from the platform, there is also a restaurant at the top. There is a really stiff climb up from town, with no indications on the footpaths. There is a short funicular that saves you perhaps half the climb, but at € 3.50 each way you pay highly for the convenience and it only runs every half-hour.

“Worth the climb!”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

We decided to walk up to the top, and take the cable car back down. Easy to find, the view from the top is well worth the effort, with a 360 panorama of Athens and a wonderful view to Piraeus and the Bay of Marathon.

The small church is lovely and the cafe is expensive, but offers 10% discount if you've used the return cable car. We didn't mind missing out, but appreciated the much shorter trip back down. A short walk through Kolonaki brought us back to Syntagma.

“Sure, great views of the city - but not much else to do”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Likavitos is a very nice area, and one would probably get the most of it by walking up and down, rather than talking the funicular. There is a nice café at the top which allows one to relax and enjoy the views. The views of Athens are indeed impressive but other than that, there isn't much to do there.

Definitely worth it if you have time on your schedule - but I would not get out of my way just to do this
