5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

following reviews, we came for the custard and rice pudding. we took one of each as well as a chocolate custard. findings: all were exceptionally delicious and surprisingly light. the chocolate custard had a great dark chocolate flavor despite the high content of milk (how do they do it?)/
slightly hidden but worth hunting down.

“Delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

I was in Athens for almost one week. Every single day I went to Stani’s for a sokolatina and frappé or Greek coffee, even if it was out of my way, for besides the dairy products Stani is known for and which are so well described by Kokina2 in her review of this place, they also have delicious chocolate cake. In addition to my sokolatina, every day I had rice pudding and galaktobourek to take away and have it later in the day or in the evening as snack. For take-away they give you plastic spoons.
It’s hard not to get addicted to their creams and puddings.
I also tried their baklava and their walnut cake (karydopita): they are good but not as exceptional as their cream and dairy products.
They serve breakfast and also have a small selection of savory pies: spanakopita (spinach), tyropita (cheese), bougatsa, etc.
The waiter deserves a special mention here for he does his job very well: he is polite, gentle and efficient.
There is limited seating inside. The outdoor café is in the middle of the pedestrian street so one is not disturbed by the traffic.
Stani is easy to find: it is located in the pedestrian street to the left of the Hondos Center (when facing the Hondos Center). Coming from Omonia, Stani is on the right hand side of the street.
Not cheap but absolutely worth the money.
Highly recommended.

“BEST TRADITIONAL RICE PUDDING IN TOWN”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

When I was a student to Athens University I used to go to Stani to taste delicious creams and have a cup of coffee. 25 years later I remembered it and again I go there for taking out its delicious creams. Believe me they are still as marvelous as I remember.

Stani is an old diary product patisserie that makes its own creams and puddings always with fresh milk that delivers every day. It really has the best rice pudding in town and yogurt with honey is a piece of harmony and taste. Everything on the catalogue is very good but the place is best for puddings and all the products of milk such as “galaktompoureko” that is custard pie and its creams like cacao pudding and of course my favorite rice pudding with cinnamon. You can take some away to taste with friend they only cost 1.10 Euro each.

So if you want to have a taste of what was having your dessert in traditional Athens do not miss this place.

It is situated to the heart of Athens. You can take the metro get out to Omonoia station and take the exit to “Kotopouli”, you will find it at 50 meters in this street. Unfortunately these years Omonoia is not a touristic attraction as it used to be and last time I went to buy puddings I saw homeless people sleeping nearby. I wish the central square will be again as it was few years ago and that people do not sleep there and have descent homes.
