“GREAT Location! Does Not Strive to Offer Much More.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2007

We stayed at the Hera late May, 2007 in the Jr. Suite (#501).
Pros: Great location just outside of the PLAKA, we could walk everywhere.
Although bathroom was small with limited counter space, the shower worked very well.
Good housekeeping service!

Cons: Staff was not at all weloming or friendly (with exception of the rooftop staff). There were no greetings, and no concierge help.
There was such a smell of smoke throughout the hotel, that on the 2nd night we put a towel at the base of our door to help with the smell. I think it was so much stronger because they keep the hallways with no inside or outside air, everything is very stagnant.
Do not be fooled by Jr. Suite status, not much bigger than a large closet when the pull-out bed is pulled out. Expect the bed to be brick hard.

We have stayed in many hotels overseas, and expect the differences from the US. We also like to stay in smaller hotels with the atmosphere of the country that we are visiting, many of these I have given high marks to and have loved! This one just fell short in ways that they could fix with a little work. It would be worth it to me to pay more and find somewhere else.

We used a great taxi service while there for airport transport and for a day tour to Nafplio- Unfortunately I can not find his card, his name was George, but not the "famous" one. Very nice car, and authentic, nice man. I think the Hera uses him, so feel free to ask them for George.

Upon arrival, we were processed by helpful, informative and friendly staff. Our room was on the thrid floor at the back and was very clean and comfortable. We stayed three nights and would highly recommend the hotel, especially for its value for money location. It is within walking distance of all the major sites and the metro is a stoe's throw away from the front door.

We did not eat in house but the roof terrace, where the restaurant is located, has excellet views of the Akropolis and its surrounds.

Breakfast was also very good.
