We stayed in a double room with a view to Acropolis and remained very glad with our choice. We had a sunny balcon-terrase with a view to Acropolis, where we enjoyed our meals and sunshine a couple of times! The hotel is located on top of the hill and is nicely isolated from the main street noise, it's close to Archeological museum and to a lovely restaurant area near by with good choice of restaurants, there is a supermarket nearby, bread shop, shop for fresh fruits and other practical things (mobile phone cards). Every Saturday there is an open street market near the hotel where local farmers bring their fresh products - yammi! The hotel is a bit away from the downtown with Acropolis and the main sightseeings around it, but we didn't feel any inconvenience - the taxi was just 5 euros for a 10-minute ride from the hotel to the downtown. Besides we really enjoyed walking and discovering the city. The owner and his family are very nice and helpful people, we extended our stay without warning ahead twice, once just left the city and dropped the email asking if we could stay longer (had no time to do it otherwise), got back only in the evening and had no any difficulties - all was smooth and sound, that's worth mentioning here! Besides, the hotel didn't charge us for canceling our reservation the second time at the last moment - originally we planned to return to Athens but stayed on the island till the end of our journey! I heard that the breakfast was good, but we were always late for it. Would recommend you to ask the hotel for help with taxi - we met some taxi drivers that cheated on us and charged more than we should have paid. Hotel owner has at least one reliable taxi-driver, Pannau, who drove us from-to the airport and was very helpful on recommending what to see and where to go.

Room Tip: Ask the room with a view to Acropolis.

It was a really good place to stay with older children. Quite a walk from the center or the Omonia metro station, but you could discover the "real", young Athens city. Close to National archeological museum also.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, with recently renewed bathrooms and very cosy balcony where we could picnic some evenings. The terrace on the roof is also really nice for breakfast or to take a siesta in the sun.
We did not use the kitchen, but I imagine this would be quite practical for young budget travellers!
The staff was very helpful to solve any minor problem, order a taxi, advise on things to do.
The neighbourghood is full with graffiti, but when you walked through at night, it did not feel unsafe. I would not recommend the adjacent parks at night though as we found quite some drug needles lying around.

A friend and I greatly enjoyed the stay there. Also it tends to be a little scary when you arrive there in the dark as the adjacent park is not lit at night and there is graffiti and placations everywhere in Exarchia.
But the Hotel was nice though. And the view from the terrace truly is spectacular and the staff was very friendly all the time.
Also the location is as central as anyone would want, especially if you want to enjoy local food and drinks. There is a plethora of bars and Tavernas around.
There is also a bakery just at the bottom and to the left from the Hotel which had excellent pastries and "greek coffee". Which made breakfast at the Hotel obsolete and all more delicious. The lady there didn't speek a word of English, but a young lad "Angelo" did. Great people there!

The Dryades staff were friendly, and i felt like i was at home, literally. They really seemed to care, and not. The view of the Acropolis was amazing, and the area itself is wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in Athens.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the Acropolis.

The hotel is situated on a small park, 10-15 minutes walking distance from central metro Omonoia station. 5 minutes with the taxi.
Our stay started and ended with the great smile of the family members owing the hotel.
They would be our life map during our stay there. Whatever we asked for, regarding directions and sightseeing, they would help us out 100%.
I was visiting Athens with my boyfriend and literally it was the coziest and most romantic choice we could have made, as it was quite duriing whole day and night, in the heart of Athens.
Spacious rooms, clean and friendly housemade. Breakfast is not of great variety, but everyting you need is included (fresh bread, cheese, ham, eggs, greek honey, marmelade, coffee, juice, etc.)
From the roof top, the hotel has the most magnificent view of Acropolis and Athens.
The area, Exarchia, is absolutely safe, with many different choices of bars, cafes and tasteful traditional restaurants.
I would highly recommend it for low budget travellers.
I will definately go there again!!!

This is a good option if you are looking for a good, clean, cheap enough accommodation in Athens. The girl at reception is friendly, offers maps and advices about the sights. But the hotel doesn't have its own reception, it is common with another one, next to it.
You have to park the car on the streets nearby, because the hotel doesn't have its own parking.

Had I just found this one on my way in instead of on my way out... I would probably have spent some more time in the capital of Greece. Dryades Hotel is located at the edge of upcoming hip Exarchia. Don’t let the grafity on the walls in the surrounding streets disencourage you. Some young Greeks hanging out there might look tough, they’re very friendly and helpful. The restaurants in side streets of Exarchia square serve the real Greek cuisine (the good mezes as starters and a nice veal liver as a main course), the French bar around the corner on Benakili serves not only great wine, but also a perfect espresso. Dryades Hotel has fresh decorated rooms on the first floor, but the nr one room is nr 26 on the second floor, it has a wonderful balconny and a great view at the Akropolis. Outside just wander into Lofos Strefi Park, and you´ll forget you´re visiting a metropole. There´s nice ouzo and a good local Greek beer at the taverna just around the corner in the park. Breakfast at the Dryades is not very exciting but served with a breathtaking view, on the roof terras of the adjecent Orion Hotel.
The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful, all the windows have musquito nets and of course there´s a good wifi connection for those internet junkies, that can not read normal books and news papers. Ah… I almost forgot, there is also an estonishingly nice restaurant in Psiri.. I might tell about that place some other time.
